5.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Overlooked Action Adventure Comedy
Christian Slater's character reminds me of a young Jack Nicholson, who replaces his brother on the Police Force after he is murdered. I was surprised that he didn't become as popular as Tom Cruise after this film was released in 1992, but he had a few personal issues during the 90s that stalled his career. 3.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and fun
Kuffs was a great movie in my opinion, not only because of Christian Slater (a definate plus)but the way it mixed hardcore action with enough humor to stay away from being grouped with Arnold S. movies. I give the plot line a 2, the action a 4, and the main character who shows that we're all only human a 5, so three stars is my rating. Rent it and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated by Critics, August 5, 2003
This review is from: Kuffs (DVD)
Critics who were just trying to kill Slater's career as they do with many actors, actresses and directors rated this a horrible movie. But this movie is so hilarious. The drugged coffee? "I like my coffee cold." The chief's car. The part when Slater answered his front door with a gun pointed at whoever was standing behind and that guy who threw his arms up and fainted! "Why are we doing all this running? Aren't we all going to be in cars?!" And Milla is the definition of sexy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funky movie with staying power, July 28, 2003

I saw this movie for the first time in its original release. What a funky, funny movie full of off-beat characters! Parts of it are laugh out loud, gut busting funny, while at the same time it builds in an aspect of adventure/suspense. An interesting juxtaposition.

Christian Slater's wacky character comes to San Francisco to live with his older brother and ends up taking over his security business. He has a variety of misadventures while trying to learn how to protect the people on his beat and catch the bad guy at the same time. And what a terrific, crazed bad guy. He wears outrageous shirts, including T-shirts with his own picture on them. And he's just one of the many unusual people you'll meet here. From the minute that frozen turkey goes bouncing down the street at the beginning, you'll be hooked.

Filmed on location, Kuffs is full of San Francisco atmosphere and local color which make it even more appealing for those of us who like the city. I own this movie in VHS and have watched it over and over. Now I'll buy it in DVD.

This film has one of my all time favorite lines: "Where DO you buy your clothes?" An appealing winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kuffs is a cool and Unedited Universal Studios DVD to own!, April 29, 2004
This review is from: Kuffs (DVD)
I am a big fan of Christian Slater's movies. This Kuffs DVD is Unedited. In the movie (32 minutes and 55 seconds), there is a scene where Kuff's partner is cursing. All the cursing in the scene (except the last two words) are edited with annoying loud beeps. After careful research, I found out that the beeps are supposed to be funny. However, the real purpose of the beeps was to avoid a R rating. I hopes this review helps other people who might think that this DVD is Edited. Kuffs is a cool and Unedited Universal Studios DVD to own!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kuffs, a comedy about growing up., July 22, 2002

This was definitely one of my fave' movies of the 90's. Young tearaway George Kuffs (Slater)has just dumped his pregnant girlfriend, <Milla Jovovich> when his older, policeman brother Brad (Bruce Boxleitner - Babylon 5> is murdered. Hopeful for some payback, George joins the local police force in order to catch his brother's killer, whilst also attempting to win back the girl, and in doing so learns to grow up somewhat in the process. As the billboard in the movie says quite aptly really, 'Life: what happens whilst you're making other plans.'
The soundtrack is also, just perfect for the film's different moods; 'I don't wanna live without you' may be the most moving song I've heard on a film. My only complaint is that it's not out on DVD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dino, wake up and release this on DVD!, October 28, 2002

This review is from: Kuffs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is one of the best "fish-out-of-water" cop/buddy comedies that were so popular back in the late 80's and early 90's. Yes, Eddie Murphy started it all with "48 hours" and "Beverly Hills Cop", but believe me, the role of young George Kuffs fits Christian Slater like a glove.

Plot in a sentence or two: lazy 20-year old high-school drop-out George Kuffs inherits "citizen's patrol" service when his older brother (a cop) is killed. Given the chance to fill in his brother's shoes and avenge his death, Kuffs won't let it slip away. In process, he "learns" responsibility, courage and respect and discovers he's a better man than he though he is.

Constant humour, hillarious one-liners, fast pace and action, excellent casting and above all, Christian's presence and talking to camera (very few films have done that succesfully) all add class to this overlooked gem.

Of course, if you want "reality" go watch "NYPD Blue" or "Cops" and don't bother with this.

Favourite line: "I always wanted a gun."

Why this movie is still not on DVD is beyond me... Until it is, go and buy "Pump Up The Volume".

5.0 out of 5 stars Slater shines, December 31, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Kuffs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I really loved this movie, it has every thing that a good movie should have, violence, bad language and most importantly mila jovovich in panties and a tank top. Its story is somewhat typical, but believable. George Kuffs played by Slater is an unemployed bludger who inherits his brothers police precent. [spelling]Gang members etc try to bribe him to look the other way blah blah blah etc etc. I also liked how the movie wasn't all violence it did have many funny parts to it. My advice to anyone is to watch or buy this movie, if you like Christian Slater and a bit of action you're in for a treat 5 STARS

4.0 out of 5 stars Great performance from Milla and Christian!, October 8, 1999
This review is from: Kuffs [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Any movie that opens up with the tremendously beautiful Milla dancing around in her underwear is worth seeing. Plus, the moments when Christian talks directly to the screen are hilarious. An all-around just fun movie.
