5.0 out of 5 stars Flexi Spatula
My mother and grandmother had this type of high quality spatula when I was growing up in the fifties. But try to find one at your local stores, forget it, you can't find it anywhere. This is a high quality flexible spatula. Every kitchen needs one. Glad I found it on Amazon. S/H was a little slow, but well worth the wait. Go ahead and treat yourself, your cooking...

3.0 out of 5 stars Regular large spatula is better
I really wanted to like this spatula. I cook fish all the time - especially delicate flaky fish. I couldn't believe I waited so long to get a dedicated fish spatula.

Thing is, my Oxo large silicon turner/spatula does so much better than this turner. It is flexible and the smooth surface is gentler on the flaky fish.

Flexible is definitely...

How could you not love this spatula? On top of being flawlessly functional, it is absolutely georgous. It has a nice weight and feels good in your hand. It really does allow you to turn fish with ease. Dishwasher safe.

What can I say -- it works wonderfully -- whenever you need to flip something when cooking this is what you need! It is great even for just mixing things like frying potatoes. Takes cookies off cookie sheets nicely. Use your imagination!

Got this about a year ago to augment the spatula of my grandma, which is showing severe signs of wear. The Kuhn Rikon product has exceeded my expectations; the springiness of the steel is good, the design of the handle, while different from the other spatula, is very good. The machining of the handle prevents slipping, even with wet/greasy hands. The blade is a little harder to bend to shape the the other, but not enough to fret about. Good product!
Grandmas spatula can never be duplicated, and I still blow it a kiss from across the kitchen. Does anyone else have a 'favorite'(or hand-down)piece that ivokes the feelings, say, spirit of those past? Love to know...

How did I live without one for so long. It gets the whole fish filet onto a serving plate in one beautiful presentable piece!

Flexible is definitely something that's super useful for turning fish, but in my experience I am definitely better off with a flat flexible spatula - not the slatted metal fish spatula that is tough on flaky fish which does better on a solid surface.

This is still going to be better than a strong metal solid spatula, so if you want all metal utensils, I suppose it's best to go with this. But I find Oxo's nonstick flex spatula to be better, and therefore, have no need for this utensil.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nicely made, works, maybe a little pricey, August 15, 2010

Picked one of these up for four bucks on clearance at TJ Maxx. I thought I was saving a few bucks vs. normal price. Shocked to see it normally sells for so much at Amazon. I guess Swiss plastic and stainless steel is more expensive than I thought.

Anyway, as everyone else says, it works very well. Easy to grip handle and flexible enough metal spatula area. Might be a little "iffy" for non-stick pans.

Before you buy consider the Matfer Pelton Spatula (sold by Amazon for one third what the Kuhn costs), highly rated by Cooks Illustrated, and plastic so it is all-pans friendly. I have both and both work fine...the Kuhn does feel more "just like a real chef" in the hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Will Change You, April 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Seriously it will. It takes cooking to a whole new level! Just make sure you always use stainless steel or cast iron pans when you use metal spatula's. You must use plastic utensils on non-stick pans. But just go out and buy an All-Clad stainless steel pan, that will also revolutionize your experience and food.
