5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Vegetable Knife!
I bought this mainly for cutting basil, but it's great whenever you need to chop vegetables or herbs. It doesn't "bruise" the tender herbs.
It is VERY comfortable in the hand and the blade sheath is necessary as the edge if VERY sharp.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's super sharp..., March 16, 2011
I saw this and bought it because I've always wanted an herb chopper,I noticed right off the bat that you cannot use it like a regular straight edged knife, so if you're trying to chop up and down, you won't like it, it's more like a rocking motion, because of the circular blade. I went to the williams sonoma website and they have the knife plus a video, (just search for kuhn rikon herb) There's a woman demonstrating the knife and 3 different ways to use it. Holding it normally, 2nd, placing your hand on the inside lower part of the handle (my favorite because it gives more leverage) and thirdly using it backwards. Just look at the video, it's hard to explain. Positive points, it's very sharp, it does work. I minced garlic and cilantro with it. Negative points, it's supposed to be nonstick, but I had to wipe off garlic bits, and I could definitely live without it, it's cool but not indispensable.

After seeing this in Williams-Sonoma, I decided I wanted to order it as a gift for a friend. She absolutely loves it! The blade is super sharp though, so exercise caution!

2.0 out of 5 stars pretty useless, April 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
i loved it when i saw it at William Sonoma. when i received it, i was very excited to use it. but the knife isn't that sharp, so the 'rocking motion' really didn't function that well. it's a great concept, had the knife been sharp. i ended up using it once, and gave it to my brother. he likes these fancy useless things.

2.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work, November 1, 2010

The product doesn't work as expected. I had a hard time mincing parsley. It's too small to get a good rocking motion started. Did it faster with a regular chef's knife. Not worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Knife, June 19, 2010

Love this knife! By grabbing it over the blade it is easy to apply some pressure to cutting corn on the cob. Chopping a bunch of scallions is a breeze. May take a little getting used to, but well worth the effort!

I used this knife for cutting spices. It works well, but I wish it were heavier. One very nice feature is the blade guard.

I was considering purchasing a mezzaluna for chopping herbs until I discovered the Kulu. It is very sharp and works great for quickly chopping herbs.

The knife is really nice and sharp, but I am just not good with it. If you can learn or already skilled with these then go for it. I only purchased it becuase of other Kuhn Rikon knives I own and I absolutely love those. They are the straight bright colored ones. They are good to keep knives with certain foods and I generally like bright colors. This looks cool, but isn't my go to knife. I still use it occasionally. However, I think this is all user error. The knife is nice and is very reasonably priced.

3.0 out of 5 stars I cannot seem to get the hang of it., March 9, 2011

This review is from: Kuhn Rikon 4.5-Inch Nonstick Colori Kulu Herb & Vegetable Knife, Green (Kitchen)
The blade is very sharp, but I cannot seem to get it to work better than what I can do with a chef's knife. That being said, I think the problem is with my use of the product than with the product itself. I would love to see someone who can really use this product in action.
