5.0 out of 5 stars I'm IMPRESSED with this press!
I used other popular cookie presses for holiday baking and found them to be a hassle to operate and to clean, the last one I had didn't provide enough leverage to extrude the dough. 2.0 out of 5 stars The Trigger Mechanism breaks?
I used mine a few times with pretty good results, but the last time I tried, the trigger mechanism that presses the dough out wouldn't work. It seems to be totally shot and is only a year old. That wasn't worth it, my mom had a metal one for years and years.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm IMPRESSED with this press!, May 6, 2000

I used other popular cookie presses for holiday baking and found them to be a hassle to operate and to clean, the last one I had didn't provide enough leverage to extrude the dough. Someone recommended this one from Kuhn Rikon and then I ordered it out of a catalog for 1999 Xmas cookie baking. This one is really slick. The trigger grip mechanism allows one-handed operation so you have the other hand free to cut dough or finish forming cookies. I like the see-through body so I know exactly how much material I have left. All the parts are nicely finished and it's really easy to clean. There are lots of choices of dies and tips and I found the star die exactly the right shape for Scandinavian Vannilie Kranser. This is so much better than others on the market!

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use for a first time cookie press user...., March 12, 2001

I received this press as a Christmas present, and just used it for the first time last night. I have never used a cookie press before, so I can't compare it to any other, but as a first time user, I can say that this was very simple to use and very easy to clean. The cookies come out looking very professional and the extra barrel included in the box made it easy to get ready for the next batch--making the whole process very quick. I am very pleased with mine, and knowing it was this easy to use ensures I will be using it again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant cookies fast!, October 17, 2004
This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press (Kitchen)
I got this press to replace my old Pampered Chef one in time for holiday baking and am so glad that I did! I just finished my second batch of spritz cookies in record time. I've used four of the 20 plates so far and only had two incomplete cookies, both of which were the first press after a refill using a very intricate plate. The cookies are small and dainty-looking, but are not fragile (a problem I had with the larger cookies made by my old press). The only problem I have with this one is that the plunger is concave instead of flat, which makes the last cookie come out as a blob. Of course, there is no shortage of volunteers in my house to dispose of the "extra" dough, so it's a problem I can live with. I haven't used it as a decorator yet, but plan to in the near future. I am very glad to see that the decorator adapter takes standard tips, so I can easily use the ones I already have in addition to the ones that came with it. All in all, a great product for a great price.

Update: I used the press to fill thumbprint cookies with icing and was very pleased. The press gave me a great level of control and was easier to use than other decorators I've tried.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes Christmas cookie production a pleasure, October 31, 2003
This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press (Kitchen)
I don't like making cookies; the process is time-consuming if you do cut cookies or drop. The Kuhn Rikon has a trigger mechanism that ticks off each cookie in record time. They bake quickly (small) and they are welcome in a cookie swap or a gift bag of cellophane decorated with ribbons.

The instructions on the recipe tell you to chill the sheets and not grease them. This is vital to keep the cookie from coming up again after you pull the trigger over the sheet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly amazed & delighted, perfect cookies, August 30, 2006
This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press (Kitchen)
This is my second and LAST cookie press purchase. This gadget saves so much time when baking cookies, crackers or parmesan bars, I now bake more than my family needs, or wants.

It is so easy to handle our 3 year old twins can pop out a sheet of shapes expeditiously.

One thing that made me very happy: the disks even make a circular "drop" shape you can thumb with a cherry or chocolate chip without the spoons, gluck and sticky thumbs. Easy to clean, store, and economical for all it does.

This has changed my kitchen habits, and given me more time to color & dance with the kids during bake sale hell.

note*Be sure to not put the disks in the dishwasher, as the smart instructions say - hubby dropped one accidentally in the silverware basket and it darkened up, which looks funny, but it remains useable.

I bake tons of cookies, and I had used my mother's classic Spritz press before, but this press exceeded my expectations as far as quality and convenience. The clear barrel is excellent for seeing how your dough is being pressed, and the dough seems to come out much more evenly than my mother's used to. I read the other reviews listed here and looked for the sharp metal that harmed one of the reviewer's son, but couldn't find anything... maybe that was a defective press? All in all, I definitely recommend this one-- I would have paid more than $[money] for this great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, one that works!, December 17, 2006
This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press (Kitchen)
I have had a half a dozen Spritz cookie presses over the years - ranging from the most basic metal ones to electric and everything in between. NONE of them ever gave me the results that this press did today. IF you follow the recipes and directions that come with the Kuhn Rikon cookie press, you WILL be able to make beautiful Spritz cookies. Finally. Yes.

5.0 out of 5 stars *WARNING - This does NOT work for cake frosting!, December 15, 2000
This review is from: Kuhn Rikon Clear Cookie Press (Kitchen)
While looking for something to make CAKE decorating easy and fun, I was encouraged to buy one of these at Home Chef (for about twice the price as amazon!). The SALESgirl was enthusiastic and the packaging seemed to indicate (to a novice like me) that it could be used for cake frosting as well. What a mistake! It did not work well with frosting at all, everything came out in blobs and it was difficult to manuever. Before I returned it, I made a batch of cookies - they were adorable and the unit was very easy to clean (and manuever for COOKIE making). If I was a cookie maker - this would have been perfect for me.
