Underneath the fashion statement, the cutting wheel cuts from the side leaving the rim smooth, not sharp or jagged. Got it a few minutes ago and tried once.
I have to say: it is so amazing! Love it very much!
I chose the yellow one, and it is so pretty and bright;
Fits right in hand;
Easy to use, just took me several seconds to read the instructions and then opened a can in seconds. No sharp edges! easy to reseal!
The important thing is that it is safe for kids. Because there is no sharp blade.
Highly recommend!!!

Updated (02/11/10):
I remembered that someone, who owned another model, said that it would not work for the cans of tuna, salmon, chicken, etc. I tried mine on several cans of tuna, no any problem. This model did a wonderful job!
Love love love it!
BTW, it is made in China.

I wish it can last lifetime.

Long ago I tried one of these openers that don't leave a sharp edge on the top of the can and I was very unhappy with it. It was extremely hard to turn the handle and did a marginal job. This opener has solved those problems. This is extremely easy to use and does a very nice job of opening a can. Hey, it looks cool too ... an added bonus. I'd definitely recommend this product

This opener is perfect for me. First, who couldn't love the fact that it is bright yellow. If you have a cluttered drawer, you'll be able to pick it out of the crowd. Second, it produces zero sharp edges, which I really appreciate. You can either recycle (please... do) or you can throw the lid away and it won't break your garbage bag. And, if you are lid phobic (I am not), you never even have to touch the lid. You can use the tool to take it off and throw it away. Lastly, I really appreciate how easy this is to turn. I actually made this purchase because my hands always hurt, and this little tool really helps. If you have older people in your life or ones you know with arthritis... I'd truly recommend this gadget. Best ergonomic opener you can buy.
