Easy to use, easy to clean.

This was also easy to clean up - wash the bowl and blades (careful, they're sharp) and wipe off the lid.

It's also great for doing things like dicing green peppers, onions, and olives for pizza topping.

When my little electric chopper died I started looking around to replace it. I was in a kitchen store and saw a demo of this Swiss Pull Chop and was sold.

This is a great chopper for small jobs - one onion, a cup of breadcrumbs, small amounts of salsa, chopped nuts - really, anything in a small amount. The blades are like razors but it comes with a blade cover - just be sure not to lose it!

The chopper uses a pull mechanism to operate the rotation of the blades. it is fast and sharp. Quarter an onion and drop in the pieces. In 4 pulls, it is coarsely chopped. In 8 it is minced. In 12 it is pureed.

I am very happy that I didn't have to purchase another electric gizmo. This unit is compact, easy to wash, easy to store, and best of all, EASY to use. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pull out the big food processor for small amounts of chopping, mincing, or pureeing.

Shortly after settling on the optimal Cuisinart, I was curious about something that would be easier to use, and faster to clean. So I tested several modern versions of the Veg-o-Matic from Oxo, Zyliss, and this amazing little product from Kuhn-Rikon. The choppers were all tested for the same amount of time (30 seconds) chopping at full strength, full speed. The Kuhn-Rikon beat the competition hands down for chop uniformity and completeness. Since the test I have found some lack of uniformity if chopping less than 20 seconds, ie the occasional large piece of onion or celery remains, but overall this tool is just marvelous - I used it just about every time i cook something savory, in large part because it works well and the clean-up is so easy. One caution: Use care with the removable spindle which contains two blades, which are quite sharp.

Follow-up: We almost never use the Cuisinart, and am about to buy a second, so we can have one in the dishwasher, and an extra one available at all times. 10/2012

I just received this today, don't know how I lived without it before. It is fantastic! Perfect for small batches as the cup has a capacity of 1.5 cups.

It did a superb job of very finely mincing onions, peppers, parsley & olives with just 13 pulls.

So much easier to use than my full size food processor or even small electric chopper. No loud noise either, so it didn't disturb the sleeping baby.

Quickly cleaned up immediately after use. Just wipe off the top and the other parts are dishwasher safe. I quickly just washed them off at the sink.

I recommend using a small rubber or silicone spatula to get all of your chopped veggies out of the bowl.

This is my new favorite kitchen gadget.

I had hoped this contraption would eliminate the need for me to chop onions, a staple in many of the dishes I prepare for my family. Six pulls left large chunks of onion smooshed on the side of the plastic housing and more than six pulls did nothing more to mince the onions into finer particles. Instead, the blades just cut to fingernail size and no further, leaving the onion stuck to the sides. The description says, "Sharp stainless blades chop, mince or puree dips, sauces, soups, desserts and more in seconds. Minimal prep and clean up beats food processors every time." But there's no mince or puree when you're done pulling the cord. I even tried using a spatula to reposition the onion toward the middle and pulling the cord again several times, but no mince, just chunks.

It did clean up easy and may be good for those who prefer chunky rather than finely chopped items.

It's cheap, it needs no electricity, it's quick and efficient, it's easy to clean up. I like this better than my Pampered Chef food chopper that you press to chop. With its sharper and spinning blades, the Rikon chops more delicate foods, like tomatoes, better. Very small items or quantities would still need a knife or food chopper though, like garlic or ginger, since there is not enough material for the spinning blades to cut. On the other end of the scale, you really cannot fit more than maybe 1 (coarsely chopped) onion, so this is for small chopping tasks.

There are only a couple things I think could improve it: 1) the blades are straight and I think they would cut even better if they had a curved edge, and 2) there are ribs on the inside of the container that make it difficult to scrape out finer chopped or pureed foods. Other than that, this is a winner!

I like fresh fruits and vegetables, but I'm too inept to chop them up quickly and easily, and to cheap to buy them prechopped. So I make do with a food processor, which is bulky and time-consuming to put together and take apart, or a mandoline, which sometimes cuts me. Sometimes, I just bite the bullet and pull out the knife and cutting board. Enter the Kuhn Rikon Swiss Pull Chop and voila! my life is made much easier. You put your veg or fruit in the bowl, pop on the lid and pull the handle as many times as you need to in order to get the desired consistency.

It won't replace a mandoline for precision chopping, but you can make things like salsa quickly and easily. I just wish it came in a larger size, too, for making large batches of chopped foods. But I'll take what I can get!
