This review is from: Kundalini Empowering Human Evolution: Selected Writings of Gopi Krishna (Paperback)
A very good compilation of the different aspects of Gopi Krishna's writings on Kundalini and his philosophy in general. There are also commentaries at the end of the chapters and a lengthy introduction. A very good choice for someone wanting a good and thorough academic treatment of the subject.

A way forward from our current problems., December 3, 2010
This review is from: Kundalini Empowering Human Evolution: Selected Writings of Gopi Krishna (Paperback)
This book is a collection of Gopi Krishna's writings, edited by Gene Kieffer.
I had not read or heard of Gopi Krishna before the book. I found the book a good way to begin to understand the philosophy, theology, science of the man. Basically, this Indian who was born in 1903 developed a refreshing perspective on life through a series of events he did not always understand at the time. He spent the rest of his life working with scientists and others to better understand our essential nature.
Basically, the spiritual side of life - that he experienced via yoga - is more important than the material side. The human race progresses by the power of the spiritual side and chances ruin by ignoring that aspect.
This book might be a hard read for the hard line religious zealots of any faith who believe that only spiritual experience is available from a far away God. Gopi's experience of man's spiritual side is grounded in the personal experience of our basic nature - rather than as a repentant sinner.
The book would also be a hard read for the scientists, agnostics, and atheists who believe only in the physical side of man. Gopi's experience of man's spiritual side drove his desire to explain his experience rationally and and to work with scientist and other intellectuals to understand this most important part of man and the universe - as the only way to solve the current problems facing the world. In the time since his writing - the problems have only gotten worse.
Both sides should consider this collection with an open mind. Not always an easy read, but thought provoking.
I highly recommend this book for anyone in another category - those looking for ways to improve themselves and the world - in the face of mounting problems that demand a new way of thinking and acting.
I'll look to read more of his books in the future.
