This review is from: Kundalini and the Evolution of Consciousness (Paperback)
"Clearly written from a Western, mostly Christian point of view, Solomae Sananda's latest book Kundalini and the Evolution of Consciousness contains a great deal of new and valuable information. It is a most welcome addition to books about Kundalini Energy.

The majority of books about Kundalini, many written from an Eastern point of view, are either "How To Books" on awakening Kundalini or descriptive autobiographies. Other books, more medically or scientifically based, describe the symptoms and problems that can ensue when Kundalini energy is released. Sananda in Kundalini and the Evolution of Consciousness goes a step further; she not only describes what happens when Kundalini awakens, but also describes the different, cyclical levels one goes through before the cleansing process is completed.

Kundalini awakening, although it is usually the initial trigger, is not, as many people believe, necessarily synonymous with enlightenment. Most of those persons who are K awakened find that rather than an instantaneous explosion into aware-ness, it is a process, and sometimes a lengthy one at that. Ms Sananda describes the relatively short five year process she went through to full enlightenment.

She describes the common physical symptoms one encounters, from hot flashes, headaches, changes in breathing patterns and hormonal changes, to heightened sexuality and metaphysical experiences. Many of these symptoms are blissful, others uncomfortable. Sananda gives both an explanation of why these symptoms occur, and, in many cases, how to deal with them. For those who are past the initial "clearing" stages, at some intermediary point in the process, the description of the different levels one encounters is especially useful."

5.0 out of 5 stars a Very Important Book ..., December 6, 2007

This review is from: Kundalini and the Evolution of Consciousness (Paperback)
if ... you are experiencing the power surge of a force which seems to have remained unnamed except by Hindu adepts, who called it kundalini.
If ... you are a scholar (in your mostly left-brain phase) of kundalini, it is also a very important book, though you won't find as many references as Arthur Avalon's: "The Serpent Power" (also very important). It is an important book for the latter because it is written from direct experience. The author isn't the person who touched the rainment of the one who had touched the rainment of the person who saw G-d. She is the one who saw. For that reason, this book is a clear and concise treatise on: 1) the personal experience of kundalini awakening; 2)the meaning of it all for her (the indiviual) and us (the human population in general); 3) the larger context as outlined in the various levels that we must go through to crawl (or be blasted by the Force) out of our sleepy physically-dominated state into the awakened state of G-d consciousness and ultimate merge with the one. Scholars tend to use other scholars (find them in numerous footnotes) as the only authentic source. This book is a direct source. [btw, I personally love footnotes].
The book is readable, helpful (especially for those who are going through some of the un-earthly physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual changes associated with full kundalini awakening) and aware. This is to say that the author's awareness permeates every page.
Additionally, it is clear and concise and without the BS of incomplete understanding: qualities of someone who has great wisdom through experience.
Full kundalini awakening is like a storm, which you are not sure that you can survive -- it has you by the balls. (or ovaries, LOL). This book is an anchor, though the swells keep coming and you can't tell from where.

Sections on nutrition, symptoms, meditation, kundalini questions and answers, and excerpts from her diary round out this helpful book.
I would like to, here, thank the author for her gift.
I haven't read her other books and I was a bit "culturally aliented" by her website, but the fact remains that this book is a jewel in the kundalini bibliography.

1.0 out of 5 stars Appalling, simply appalling, January 21, 2012

I was sent this book in 2003 by Sananda (Cheryl Stoycoff) and my first reaction on reading through it was one of surprise - that an ordinary person feeling calm in meditation could claim themselves to be an ascended master.

I read the entire book and found her cosmic experience to be a matter of "checking out" of the body and experiencing a pretty dreary sensation of ordinary happiness. If this indicates the presence of an ascended master then all who fall asleep may as well claim the same.

What was more alarming was the publicity information which arrived with the book: offering a Ministerial Ordination course for the sum of $250. "Upon successful completion of a written exam you will be sent an Ordination Certificate, Minster's ID card and parking pass." No questions asked.

Making money from the vulnerable using a spiritual disguise is nothing new, and this wasn't as massive a scam as Sai Baba's, but it still shocked me to read today of the April 2005 death of Linda Mauer after getting involved with this group, in California. Mauer met Stoycoff through a yoga class after which she joined the Living Spirit Foundation. "Mauer's mother later died, and Mauer inherited an undisclosed sum of money. She left California with the Stoycoffs on the day of her mother's funeral, which she did not attend." I wonder if by speaking out about the fakery I could have helped prevent people getting involved.

And now Sananda's husband is claiming Mauer left her entire estate to him, even before the cause of death was established. I don't know what became of this unfortunate lady other than she seems to have starved herself to death while under the influence of the Stoycoffs. Not a very good recommendation for a spiritual author.
