5.0 out of 5 stars A true Stretch for the Back, Waist and Hamstring!
My Back, Waist, Love Handle, Hamstring muscles are still aching since yesterday's workout. This yoga is very dynamic and truly stretches you... Yet I've gone too far with the stretching that I'm sore today, but I highly recommend it for those who have not worked their back muscles for a while.

2.0 out of 5 stars too much mid-section lower back exercise too soon
warning.. if you have never done yoga or are just starting this is not for you. it starts with alot of 90 dgr bending down too much too soon i think. i sprang my back the first time i did it and again later. i think it needs a bit more steps to ease into the 90 dgr bending.

also all the exercise concentrates mostly on mid section and lower back. for me who...

My Back, Waist, Love Handle, Hamstring muscles are still aching since yesterday's workout. This yoga is very dynamic and truly stretches you... Yet I've gone too far with the stretching that I'm sore today, but I highly recommend it for those who have not worked their back muscles for a while.
This workout will give you:
-Whole Back Stretch (You'll be moving in some asanas and stagnant in others)
-Hamstring Stretch (Moving during this stretch)
-Waist and Ab Stretch (You'll be moving throughout this stretch)
-Inner thigh Stretch (an area I tend to forget)
-Arms & Shoulder Stretch
-Quadriceps and Outer Thigh Stretch (Breathing rapidly while holding the asana making your thighs burn!)

****Used once/twice a month this workout will help your muscles relax and relieve tension buildup.

5.0 out of 5 stars This got me through Iraq!!!, February 7, 2007

This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
I was introduced to Yoga in Graduate School. I did it with the experimental college while working towards a degree in Statistics. I'm an Army Reservist and am far from the peace-nik type. When I first got to Iraq, I did yoga on the roof of a house in Fallujah about 3X a week. We relocated to a place where this wasn't appropriate (not really cover and concealment from hostile fire). I missed my practice, and being able to do it in peace. After being deployed for 12 months I got access to internet and ordered this video and another Yoga video. The other set has yet to come out of the plastic wrapper! We had very few hours of power a day (about three to four nonconsecutive hours). I would charge up the battery on my little dvd player and when it charged enough I would do this DVD (in secret; the guys would totally harass me especially if I were to be caught doing the chants in the end). But really this grounded me. I was under immense stress outside the wire almost daily working with the Iraqi Army and under constant pressure of the possibility of hostile engagement. Fast foward 3 months and I was out of Iraq and home. Life crumbled, Post Tramatic Stress Disorder, clasped its sneaky claws into my brain chemistry. I plugged this in last night and I feel uplifted, with everything going on. My origonal intent was to become sore prior to going to a massage class I am taking, but I had forgotten all the meditative stuff. Don't fool yourself, I'm fairly fit, but this is a workout that you will be feeling for a few days. I start barely able to reach my ankle bones and by the time I'm finished with the video I can almost stand on my palms with my toes touching my wrists. Soreness totally kicks in, but in a good kind of way.
By faith I am a fundamentalist Christian. So when I experimented with yoga I struggled with the cult-like nature of the whole chanting thing. Ravi's voice in the background does sound a little on the "drink my cool-aide" but it is very soothing and you begin to really internalize the meaning of the words and focusing in on the Sut Nams and I could listen to the music at the end for hours, I wish I could put that on repeat and just listen to it over and over. I mention my faith here, because I think it is relevant. I feel stronger in my connection with God (the Holy Spirit), calmed and focused on determining how my personal legacy can be defined by my thoughts and actions each and every day. I don't know the types of Yoga I praticed in Graduate School, and I am familiar with Warrior Poses and Assanas. But Man Oh Man, If I could find a class like this, I couldn't put a price on it!
The video is very well put together, I can see where someone would say that Ana is in her underwear, but She is extraordinarily attractive in a simple vibrant kind of way. The clothing is not inappropriate, but really accentuates different aspects of the postures, I can look and see the angle of her hip to her torso or which direction her knee and toes are pointed or how she does breath of fire not just in her chest, but very deep into her belly. How is her head, shoulders, hips, knees and toes aligned. This is all important to me as I seek to improve not only my flexibilty, but my posture, gracefulness, movement, and my relationship with God.
So this has gotten me through Iraq and is assisting me in working through PTSD. This review may sound scrambled, but this is in my very highly recommend catagory. So much so that I would spend my own money to purchase this as a gift for someone else.
Thanks Ravi and Ana!
Matt Corrigan

5.0 out of 5 stars Great workout for day or night, January 25, 2005

YogaGirl (san francisco, ca United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
So far, this is my favorite Ravi Singh & Ana DVD. First let me describe it in detail as I know that will help you in deciding whether or not to buy it. It starts with the Tuning in Mantra-Ong Namo GuruDev Namo 3x. Then there is a breath meditation to use " so that nothing will get on your nerves" It is 10 sniffs and 1 exhale. Next are standard kundalini warm-up--spinal grinds and flexes. Then there are the standing exercises such as stretching back and down, side to side; leg to leg; wide angle stretch; crow squat with breath of fire, etc. Sitting down stretches are butterfly stretch; one legged stretch with the bent leg in rock pose(if you have bad knees like I do, you will need to put a pillow behind your bent leg OR don't sit in rock pose. Next is plow pose; cobra pose with wide legs; upward facing bow with breath of fire--this is quite hard as I can not hold upward bow for 2 minutes, which is about how long this exercise is. Instead I do bridge with a block under my tail bone. The last exercise is Sat Kriya. My absolute favorite! Finally there is a relaxation and the Guru Ram Das mantra at the end of class. Overall I love this DVD. What I don't like is the music. The mantra music is by Wah! and is Reggae style. I don't like Reggae music so at that point in the DVD I turn it off and put on my favorite version of Guru Ram Das. Ana looks like she wearing her underwear, but since you do kundalini yoga with your eyes closed,I bearly notice her any more. The DVD is accessible to everyone and I'm glad I got it. Hope this review helps you. Oh by the way, all kundalini classes end with the "Long Time Sun" song. Snatam Kaur recorded a very nice version of this closing song. Sat Nam

4.0 out of 5 stars stretch your nerves for more soulpower;), November 4, 2005
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
one thing i like about ravi and ana`s videoes : they are different from each other.
this is pure focus on stretch and breathing, it leaves me feeling fresh, flexible and energetic.
other videos may promise an increase in flexibility, but not many live up to that promise.

I have had hip-problems that inhibited me form doing some yoga, and was previously not able to do heavy stretching, therefor i did not get an remarkeble increase in flexibility from my regulare yoga rutine.
kundalini yoga changes this, i have a stronger lower back, and my hip/seat-bones are not giving me much trouble anymore. my legs are more flexible and my nerves can handle the increase in my energylevel.
there is only one thing missing, this video does not give me a good strecth inn my arms, shoulder and neck. i would like that since we all know that shoulders and necks need work aswell.
i would recomend this for people with some experience in yoga, kundalini yoga and hatha yoga should be part of a full yoga-routine(i still love "regular" yoga)
But if someone asked me what kind of workout i would do if i had just one choice, the answer would be kundalini yoga. because it is the only thing that covers "aerobic", stretching, toning and strengthening of the muscles and nervoussystem all in one chategory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yoga DVD I own, January 12, 2006
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
This is the best Yoga DVD that I own.Everything about this DVD, the sky background, the music, Ravi's masterful instruction and pleasant voice, and the beautiful, graceful Ana demonstrating, is so soothing to me! Not that this DVD is a walk in the park! Kundalini Yoga is a yoga that moves! You move through many of the stretches which feels wonderful, and very effective. The movement keeps you breathing and keeps tension from building. It makes so much sense to work this way. I wish more systems of yoga would incorporate Kundalini Yoga into their workouts. You stay in the stretches long enough to feel a release and you also get a thorough workout, my thighs burn for a couple days after I do this one. It is a pleasant reminder that I have done something good for myself..
I am a dance instructor who does not get time to dance anymore. I had started to tighten up before discovering this DVD - even though I had been using other yoga tapes on and off. This DVD has opened up the back of my hamstrings and my hips when I thought they were locked for life!
When I am finished with this routine my mind and body feel refreshed and destressed
If you are looking for a routine that is challenging, total body, good for all skill levels, stress relieving and takes care of your flexiblity needs all at once - you have found it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant!!!!, July 1, 2006

This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
This is my third review for Ana and Ravi's DVD's... all I can say is that I can't get enough from all their workouts. I crave kundalini yoga so much and all of their DVD's are just perfect!!!

This one is one of my favorites along with the warrior workout. This DVD makes me feel happy, stable, less irritated, flexible, calm, and healthier... I couldn't ask for more. Even my husband mentioned yesterday that lately I'm in such a good mood!!! Wow that was a great compliment as I can get very edgy with my PMS. Even my PMS has improved with these workouts and meditations!!!

I come from a hatha/power yoga background and after doing these DVD's I'm hooked into Kundalini with Ana & Ravi. I definitely feel better results mentally and physically from these DVD's than any other yoga DVD.

The DVD is just awesome, perfect music, perfect workout, and great Mantra meditation at the end!!! This is definitely another winner from Ana & Ravi!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Yoga DVD!!!, February 5, 2006
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
As an artist there are times when I am subjected to creative blocks, feeling insurmountable walls keeping me from realizing my own potential. To eliminate this blockage I became focused on kundalini flexibility kriyas. After all, a flexible spine is a flexible mind. Normally, I had been doing Ravi Singh's and Ana Brett's Warrior Workout, a set which I love. However, after acquainting myself with their new DVD, For Beginners and Beyond, which has a great spinal set followed by a brilliant reworking of the Five Tibetan Rites, I decided to go back and do their Ultimate Stretch Workout. The results were amazing.
The breathing exercise at the beginning to enhance one's nerves of steel, the standing flexibility sequence, and the complete bodily zenith which occurs during the wheel pose has given me a whole new level of energy and insight.
I have tried several flexibility sets by other kundalini yoga instructors and this clearly surpasses them all. This set not only produces a strong and toned body but what I believe to be a true raising of kundalini energy. After performing this sequence my ability to think clearly, multi-task, and have an optimistic mental focus is unparalleled.
I purchased this DVD several months ago and it has taken me that long to realize this workout is the greatest yoga DVD on the market. If you want enhanced flexibility, a true sensation of personal strength and power as well as mental agility, this DVD is for you.
Ravi and Ana's knowledge of how long to hold a pose and arrange a complex sequence is so amazing that the Ultimate Stretch Workout should actually be renamed the Ultimate Yoga DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good pretty good, March 3, 2007

This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
I am no yoga guru, mainly a runner by habit. I have tried other yoga dvds but have always felt somewhat disappointed - too complicated and hence dont get the benefit, or way too simple that I am bored within 10 minutes and I am already zooming ahead to see if it gets any better. This is my first dvd of Ravi and Ana's selection and was inspired to buy it from the positive reviews and that I have pretty tight muslces especially my back. I was neither bored nor put off by the complicated poses - I may not have had the energy to stay the course on some of the poses, but I attempted them and stayed as long I could given my current fitness level. This dvd is great for all levels, and you will be inspired to push yourself a little bit more. After trying it for the first time this morning, it is 12 hours on and my energy is at a good place, (although I have started on a healthier eating plan replaced with all whole wheat food, minumum sodium, minimum processed food) .. so with this workout this is all benefiting all the other steps that I am taking in my life [2007 resolution was to live a much reduced stressed life!! and the Universe has send me to this workout as part of my achieving my goal]. Like many people, I will no doubt buy more of their workouts - it is one of the best form of yoga for beginners and for those yogis who want something new. I love the breathing techniques and the break with meditation pauses, but this got a four star since I felt there could have been a little more explanation of the benefits of eacg pose/stretch. Otherwise, it was easy to follow.

Day2: I surprised myself and ended up this morning repeating this exercise .. was not bored as I thought I would be, pushed myself to stay a little longer on some poses. My blood pressure was even lower after one hour of this exercise - much better than after a four mile run. I am beginning to see why these instructors are popular. Finally, I can almost say that I may have found a form of yoga that I connect with both on a spiritual and physical level. A good workout with modified forms for those who need it (like me, for now). Hopefully their other dvds are as good as everyone say they are.

November 2007: I have all of Ravi and Ana's dvds and this remains a firm favorite, I am glowing and people have noticed how much less stressed I am; just plain happy. The physical benefits can be felt within days, and my spiritual growth has flourished. Ravi and Ana are by far the best teachers in terms of dvds compared to other famous kundaline teachers, other yoga teacheers in fact. However, I would love to see some book publications too to provide more depth of kundalini yoga teachings. Or how about a dvd for prenatal/postnatal and throw one in for meditations alone! Keeps the teachings coming -I am loving it. Thank you so much Ravi and Ana, Sut Nam

I LOVE this DVD; I was going to put it on my Christmas list but could not wait after seeing the streaming video preview on the [...] website.I have been doing power yoga for 3 years & love my gym's classes, but started to need more stretch. All the strength building was making me lose my flexibility which was starting to make me feel like I am getting old and I am only in my very early 30's! Plus I was starting to get carpal tunnel from too many down dogs. This is the perfect workout for me when I can't get to the gym. Since I can't get to the gym a lot over the holidays I plan to be using this a lot in the next couple months. I think it will help me to maintain muscle while helping me to get my elasticity back.
Another holiday plus:This type of yoga always leaves me energized and relaxed and feeling a nice buzz I could get addicted too!

5.0 out of 5 stars I feel I am standing taller, April 19, 2006
By
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga Ultimate Stretch Workout With Ana Brett and Ravi Singh (DVD)
I was looking for a good stretching routine to increase my flexibility and I've found it! Ravi does voiceover while Ana does the exercise. As always with their DVDs, they are fun, inspirational, and easy to follow. The breath combined with the movement really helps to ease tension and open energy flows. I feel I am standing taller. I like that it is also a strenghtening routine since stretch and strength are best together. You do a short warm up and then get right into the workout.
