Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Thelema Press is a non-profit incorporation delivering to humanity the Gnostic Works of Samael Aun Weor. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Author

Many books have been written about Oriental Yoga. Yoga means "union with God." All the books that were written about Oriental Yoga before the New Era of Aquarius which began the 4th day of February, 1962 between the hours of two and three in the afternoon are antiquated. This book entitled Kundalini Yoga is for the New Aquarian Era. Through this book we teach our disciples a practical religion. All religions teach us unbreakable dogmas on which we have to inevitably believe, even when their truths cannot be seen with eyes of the flesh. In regard to the former statement, we, the Gnostics, are a little different. We teach the human being to see, hear, touch and perceive all of the things from beyond the grave, the divine mysteries, the ineffable things, etc. We sustain that the human being has a sixth sense and that through this sixth sense, he can see the Angels and converse with them. We asseverate that the human being has a seventh sense called "intuition." The human being can know the great mysteries of life and death when he awakens that seventh sense. He does not need to study these mysteries in any book. So, beloved reader, this book is for that purpose. You will find terrific secrets within this book, secrets that never in the history of life were published. We respect all religions profoundly, and we do not only respect them, but moreover, we teach our disciples how to see, hear, touch and perceive the essential truths that all religions teach in their sacred books. Therefore, this book that you have in your hands is a book of terrific secrets that have never been published. You can develop your occult powers to see, hear, touch and perceive the Angels, Archangels, Seraphim, Potentates, Virtues, etc. You can attain union with God with this book. The Holy Bible has great Truths; thus, we read within the Bible how the prophets of God had the power to talk with the Angels. This book that you have in your hands belongs to the Gnostic Christian Universal Church; read it, study it and meditate on it. This is the Yoga of the New Era of Aquarius. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

More About the Author

The name Samael Aun Weor is Hebrew (סםאל און ואור) and is pronounced "sam-ayel on vay-ohr." Samael Aun Weor wrote over sixty books, gave thousands of lectures, and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement, whose members number in the millions. Though these accomplishments are certainly impressive by any standard, they are merely the pale terrestrial reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said:

"Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization."

His lifelong mission was to deliver to humanity the complete path toward the realization of the inner Being, or in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture or creed who wishes to fully and completely develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.

"For as long as space endures
and for as long as the world lasts,
may I live dispelling the miseries
of the world."
- From The Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life by Santideva

Samael Aun WeorThe Bodhisattva Path, also known as the Straight Path, is taken by very few. While many aspire to the Light, the vast majority take the easier Spiral Path, which is accomplished over a much longer period. The walker of the Straight Path is rare because that road is bitter, painful and filled with terrors. Embodied in the life story of Jesus of Nazareth, the Path of the Bodhisattva is a path of crucifixion and suffering on behalf of others.

"The straight path, the upright course of action, the eightfold path, conducts us from the darkness to the light. Thus, this is what Christ meant when he said to us: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6

"Those who renounce the happiness of Nirvana because of their love for mankind, those who have the body or vehicle of solar transformation, the Nirmanakaya, are the authentic Bodhisattvas, who indeed walk along the straight path; they know the word of the Lord.

"Regarding myself, concerning me, I am a walker of the straight path; thus, I teach the doctrine related with the straight path for those who want to go on the straight path. As to those who do not want to go on the straight path, well, I'm sorry, but the moment at which they have to define themselves will come: then, to those who choose the Spiral Nirvanic Path, we, the ones who follow the Straight Path, have to say "good-bye," because we go towards the Absolute!" - Samael Aun Weor

Clearly, the Path taught by Samael Aun Weor is a radical departure from the teachings of the Spiral Path, and is even more sharply opposed to the far more common teachings of the Baalim, or Lunar Path. Thus, the student, when encountering Gnosis for the first time, is often shocked, outraged, or offended, because these teachings contradict much of what we believe or hold dear. Upon closer study, it will be discovered that Gnosis is indeed the Doctrine of the Synthesis, the expression of the Universal Wisdom in the heart of every religion. What is in conflict with Gnosis are the ideas and interpretations of mankind. Truth is One; it is the mind we have within which degenerates that Truth into opinions, dogmas, politics and wars.

As a vibrant embodiment of the Bodhisattva ideal, which renounces all self-interest and seeks instead to benefit others, Samael Aun Weor rejected any notion of personality worship or the attachments of followers. Throughout his life, many thousands of students projected onto him their ideals and their needs, and this continues to this day. While many worship him and make Gnosis into just another system of belief, his own message is very clear: the only Master we should follow is our own inner Divinity. To reach that inner Divinity, we must remove from our mind mere belief: we must instead study the path as taught by all the great teachers of humanity, and put those teachings into daily practice.

Perhaps most remarkably, what he wrote and taught was not mere theory: unlike most authors (especially those who write about religion and spirituality), he taught from personal experience.

"There are authors who write marvels, but when one looks at them, one realizes that they have not lived what they have written; they did not experience it in themselves, and that is why they are mistaken. I understand that one must write what one has directly experienced by oneself. I have proceeded in this way on my part." - The Initiatic Path in the Arcana of Tarot and Kabbalah (1978)

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, Direct and Without Fear, January 27, 2010
This review is from: Kundalini Yoga: The Mysteries of the Fire: Unlock the Divine Spiritual Power Within You (Paperback)
For those familiar with the thousands of spiritual books on Kundalini, this work will present itself as a wonderful and provocative challenge. Unlike so many new age treatises upon the subject, this text is based upon thousands of years of religious scripture and practice, indicating that the science of awakening the Kundalini is exact, demanding and precise. This has nothing to do with the numerous proclamations of Kundalini awakening resulting from accident, or that the Kundalini force is potentially dangerous. What you instead find in this work is a very practical, straightforward and inspiring approach to this very misunderstood and misrepresented mystical science.

Kundalini Yoga, while having a resurgence in the Western world of spirituality, is unfortunately far from the roots it originated. Samael Aun Weor's text is fresh, invigorating, insightful, and perhaps most of all: scientific. Alongside its esoteric expositions, this book contains a lot of practical tools by which students can access their own internal and mystical direct experience with the Kundalini, free from fear, ambiguity, and confusion. This knowledge is known in Greek as Gnosis, relating to the experiential outcome of defined spiritual practice. Therefore, this book is one hundred percent practical: you do not need to believe in anything in order to actualize its contents.

Written in the short and concise lines of a manifesto, this is a small but very profound work, due to its revolutionary practices and contents. I say it is revolutionary because this book contradicts the great multitude of spiritual writings on Kundalini. For those who firmly believe in their own practice and beliefs about Kundalini, this book can come as a great shock, for good or for ill, because of the author's directness. This author bravely contradicts the many horror-stories associated with Kundalini, the fearful, dogmatic and often-times confusing propaganda spread amongst mystical circles about this divine force within us. If you are tired of so much contradiction amongst spiritual writers, even within a single book, and want to get to the root of the issue without fear, then Kundalini Yoga by Samael Aun Weor is a wonderful start.

This book is covers Pranayama: known in Gnosticism as sexual transmutation, the origins of creation and their relation to the development of the Kundalini, the seven chakras and the science of meditation. Chapters include: In the Vestibule of Wisdom, The Universal Fire, The Degrees Of Power Of The Fire, The Two Witnesses, The Yogic Matrimony, The Seven Chakras, The Chakra Muladhara, The Chakra Svadhishthana, The Chakra Manipura, The Chakra Anahata, The Chakra Vishudda, The Chakra Ajna, The Chakra Sahasrara, The Seven Seals and Internal Meditation.

Regardless of one's position, I invite the curious, the stubborn and the apathetic to investigate and study this work. Irregardless of what you believe, you will find a rich mine of ideas, traditions and universal practices that can help to give you spiritual equanimity and guidance in these particularly rough times. Whatever you believe, have experienced or heard about this mysterious force called Kundalini, I invite you to open your mind to what is new, or rather, to what is ancient, tested, tried and true, as evidenced by countless spiritual practitioners across religion and tradition.
