This review is from: Kundalini Yoga: The Mysteries of the Fire: Unlock the Divine Spiritual Power Within You (Paperback)
For those familiar with the thousands of spiritual books on Kundalini, this work will present itself as a wonderful and provocative challenge. Unlike so many new age treatises upon the subject, this text is based upon thousands of years of religious scripture and practice, indicating that the science of awakening the Kundalini is exact, demanding and precise. This has nothing to do with the numerous proclamations of Kundalini awakening resulting from accident, or that the Kundalini force is potentially dangerous. What you instead find in this work is a very practical, straightforward and inspiring approach to this very misunderstood and misrepresented mystical science.
Kundalini Yoga, while having a resurgence in the Western world of spirituality, is unfortunately far from the roots it originated. Samael Aun Weor's text is fresh, invigorating, insightful, and perhaps most of all: scientific. Alongside its esoteric expositions, this book contains a lot of practical tools by which students can access their own internal and mystical direct experience with the Kundalini, free from fear, ambiguity, and confusion. This knowledge is known in Greek as Gnosis, relating to the experiential outcome of defined spiritual practice. Therefore, this book is one hundred percent practical: you do not need to believe in anything in order to actualize its contents.
Written in the short and concise lines of a manifesto, this is a small but very profound work, due to its revolutionary practices and contents. I say it is revolutionary because this book contradicts the great multitude of spiritual writings on Kundalini. For those who firmly believe in their own practice and beliefs about Kundalini, this book can come as a great shock, for good or for ill, because of the author's directness. This author bravely contradicts the many horror-stories associated with Kundalini, the fearful, dogmatic and often-times confusing propaganda spread amongst mystical circles about this divine force within us. If you are tired of so much contradiction amongst spiritual writers, even within a single book, and want to get to the root of the issue without fear, then Kundalini Yoga by Samael Aun Weor is a wonderful start.
This book is covers Pranayama: known in Gnosticism as sexual transmutation, the origins of creation and their relation to the development of the Kundalini, the seven chakras and the science of meditation. Chapters include: In the Vestibule of Wisdom, The Universal Fire, The Degrees Of Power Of The Fire, The Two Witnesses, The Yogic Matrimony, The Seven Chakras, The Chakra Muladhara, The Chakra Svadhishthana, The Chakra Manipura, The Chakra Anahata, The Chakra Vishudda, The Chakra Ajna, The Chakra Sahasrara, The Seven Seals and Internal Meditation.
Regardless of one's position, I invite the curious, the stubborn and the apathetic to investigate and study this work. Irregardless of what you believe, you will find a rich mine of ideas, traditions and universal practices that can help to give you spiritual equanimity and guidance in these particularly rough times. Whatever you believe, have experienced or heard about this mysterious force called Kundalini, I invite you to open your mind to what is new, or rather, to what is ancient, tested, tried and true, as evidenced by countless spiritual practitioners across religion and tradition.
