a book for a lifetime,
By B. Vedski "B. Vedski" (Toronto, ON CAN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kundalini: Yoga For The West (Paperback)
Kundalini Yoga for the West is one of the most practical and comprehensive books on Kundalini that I have come across. Swami Sivananda Radha studied with Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, India in the 50's and was initiated by him into the sacred order of Sanyas. She returned to Canada, studied and practiced Kundalini Yoga for many years, and tirelessly explored the extensive texts of Sir John Woodroffe (Arthur Avalon).
What i liked about this book is that it goes beyond an english translation of ancient texts, it actually gives tools, exercises and practices to explore and expand your mind that are based on Swami Radha's personal experience. It's not just theoretical. I have been through this book many times, and know that it will continue to give me insights for years to come. It's a guide, a map, a companion.

Eastern Intuitive practices,
By Seveda James (Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kundalini: Yoga For The West (Paperback)
This book is true to its ancient origins, yet accessible to the sincere Western aspirant. Swami Radha's 'Kundalini for the West,' provides yogic exercises to access the ancient evolutionary cakra system of Kundalini. Kundalini yoga in western culture has grown to mean many things. In 'Kundalini for the West,' Swami Radha provides layers of access to work with each cakra. Each cakra is given its own series of practices: mantra, breath practices, and questions of self-reflection/life reflection, which are used to glean insight into one's inner life. There is no limit to the experiential possibilities offered through the practices detailed in this book.

This review is from: Kundalini: Yoga For The West (Paperback)
This book is about exercises to increase your awareness and perception. Nothing that I was expecting and a lot more. I found it to be very enlightening and inspiring. One word of caution though, this is not a quick read book if you intend on doing the exercises.
