5.0 out of 5 stars An Epiphany, July 3, 2007

This review is from: Kung Fu (Video Game)
I ordered this game from a seller on Amazon, and it wasn't in the best condition. I had to put the cartridge in the system a few times and turn it off and on until it worked well enough to play.

This made me realize, "Wow. This game may one day go extinct." I'm sure its available on some emulators somewhere, or maybe one of those 120 games in 1 deals, but it just loses its significance when its not in cartridge form I think.

So playing this again 20 years after I rented it and finally beating the thing (yeah, I'm going to count Game A as winning because Game B is just too darn hard) was actually somewhat depressing for me. Stuff that I once experienced as brand new is deteriorating with age. As fun as Kung Fu is to play, who's going to go out of their way to hunt this obsolete title down when they have the newest Final Fantasy games flashing in their faces?

This is definitely one of the best games on the most important video game system ever made. Its very, very easy to play. Perhaps one of the easiest to play games you'll ever find, other than Cruisin' USA. Jumping can be somewhat of a pain but other than that the controls are very smooth. Dodging attacks can be extremely tough but the ease of the controls helps you out a whole lot. That's the main thing that makes this such a great game. Quality controls. I even like its classic first-generation NES graphics. Its just like Excitebike.

But, like I said, the newer games with the better graphics and enhanced play control options (lets face it, you can do more things with 8 buttons on a control pad than 2) are now greatly overshadowing simple games like this one. Not that that's a bad thing. Its just nice to feel stuck in time every once in a while...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic NES title that is a must play, November 19, 2006

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kung Fu (Video Game)
This game is one of the most fun experiences you will have playing the NES. This game is by far the best kung fu/ karate style game on the NES and one of the best action titles on the NES by far. Although this game is short on tons of levels, even after you beat will want to come back to it because of its addictive gameplay. The gameplay consists of you playing as a Kung fu master searching for your kidnapped girlfriend. Through each level you must fight your way through hordes of enemies that will test your reflexes. Each boss in the game is unique and different and will require you to use a specific strategy to beat each boss. If you are an NES game collector like me and don't have this game in your collection, I suggest you pick up a copy, trust me you'll be glad you did. I also recommend this game to anybody looking for a great action game on the NES.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kung Fu, November 4, 2002
This review is from: Kung Fu (Video Game)
This was one of the first NES Fighting game smashes and it should be because it was a fun game. It's a very basic idea, gangsters kidnap your girlfriend so you go after her and through out the entire way, his minions await to beat you down. All you have is the skill of your hands and feet, but that will still be more than enough to face your enemies.

O.k. First off Kung Fu was basic in it's concept, gameplay and controls BUT, it was still a great game of it's time because of those same reasons. Plus if you hadn't noticed, the game also played like Bruce Lee's movie "Game of Death". Come on, like we didn't notice! First guy you face has a stick, another guy a few floors up is a big strong guy. How could you not see that?!

Anyway, Kung Fu is great get this one. It's not as detailed and stuff as say Double Dragon or River City Ransom but all great games have great beginning and Kung Fu is that great beginning. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars I think its a kicken game, November 5, 2002
This review is from: Kung Fu (Video Game)
I bought it around cristmas sometime last year or so

And me have to say i find it kicken
its very simple made and what you do is walk punch jump and kick

you simply walk in this karate house and people come towards you as you walk they can come bothe in front or behind you
so keep you fingers ready to puch or kick all the time!

even though it simply made it has several combinations especially at the bosses when you have to mix between ducking and jumping and move fast before the boss swings his weapon beacuse that takes loads of yoour enegry

also watch out!

on some levels things fall on yer head!

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kung Fu (Video Game)
A friend of mine gave me this game at Thanksgiving. At first I figured, "Well, now I have 36 games." I found out when I tried it the game was beautiful, timeless and fast-paced non-violent arcade action! It is one of the best NES games ever!
