not much more than a dictionary,
By Jenna K. Dietsch (deployed to Iraq) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kurdish-English, English-Kurdish Dictionary (Paperback)
This book is nothing more than what it claims to be, a dictionary. I was hoping it would have little extras, but it doesn't. There's a pronounciation key, English/Kurdish, and Kurdish/English. If you look up a word in English, you'll find one or sometimes many translations in Kurdish, and you don't know which one is the most appropriate. Also, I would like more than the English word that is the "closest match"; I'd like the meaning of the Kurdish words. Finally, it is far from thorough. Many simple English words just aren't there. This book would be good to have if you were traveling through Kurdistan and could refer to the book for a word or two here and there. But in terms of forming sentences or conjugating verbs, this dictionary is pretty useless. I wish I had spent the extra money and ordered an expensive text book.

Not bad, but many "near-hits",
By linnetagin@aol.com (Lancaster, Pa.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kurdish-English, English-Kurdish Dictionary (Paperback)
This dictionary has one major weakness; there are far too many Arabic and Turkish words which are rarely use by adults in conversation. It is true that young people use these words relatively often, but they should have been marked as "borrowed" words.

Kurdish-English/English-Kurdish Dictionary,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kurdish-English, English-Kurdish Dictionary (Paperback)
It is a criminal dishonesty to write a dictionary of a language you don't know it just for financial gain. I am Kurdish and find it disgusting to have a book like this called a Kurdish dictionary. This man should brought to justice.
