The star I received is nothing like the picture on Amazon (and incidentally, the picture on the box is also a different picture than the one listed on Amazon). The picture makes it look demure and subtly enchanting with cooler, more wintry colors. What you get is a cheap-looking, garish, hot pink and yellow/gold dominated light. In addition, it is incredibly cheaply made, the box looks like it came straight out of some bootlegger's garage, and the star is far too heavy for the top of an artificial tree. I can't imagine what ad-wizard thought this was worth the price they're selling it for.

In short: If you have a very strong artificial tree, and you want a VERY colorful, flashy display (think Vegas rather than Bethlehem), this is the star for you. If you want something more muted and more like the picture posted, keep looking.

This thing looks nothing like the picture. It is made from a plastic I would compare to the kind used in a car tail light. BEWARE! The picture is deceptive and this is extremely overpriced.

We ordered this and used it this year for the first time. We have multi colored LED lights on our tree and this star compliments those beautifully. It is bright and not too heavy so it won't tip forward on the tree. You can easily connect it to the strings of lights on your tree and bury the cord inside.

Love how it feels old school too...kind of classic looking like something I would have had when I was a child.

This is a very beautiful tree topper that creates a very cool ambience in a otherwise dark room. The colors change at a good pace, not too slow and not so fast as to give you a seizure! I received several compliments on such a neat topper. I just hope it will last a few years. I can't tell on the quality, but it is very light and plastic. I will update my review after next Christmas.

My wife and I scoured the web for an LED star that changed colors and after looking at dozens of different options finally decided this was the one. It did not disappoint. The star looks great at the top of our tree and the color changing sequence of the LEDs really looks nice at night. We did our Christmas tree in medium sized LED bulbs this year for the first time and this star was a nice compliment.

This AC-powered, 11.25" plastic star which is illuminated by an ever-changing color spectrum of LED lights (somewhat like a rainbow) is just the thing to get if your Christmas tree is already sporting some handy dandy LED lighting of its own.

Mine arrived nicely double-boxed, intact and fully functional from Christmas Central just a few days ago at a reasonable cost of about $30.00 which included shipping. The packaging of the star itself is also very nicely thought out in that you can test the star to see how it functions/looks without even having to unpack it by simply pressing the test button on the outside of the box (temporary battery power is provided on the inside).

As mentioned above, the LED effect provided by this tree topper is not one of individual LED lights of different fixed colors going on and off in some sort of a predetermined sequence, but rather a light show that randomly fuses diverse colors, transitioning from red, to yellow, green, blue and every color in between.

Since the 200 LED lights on my Christmas tree are always on and do not blink, this lively topper will provide just that little bit of needed variety to complete my modest holiday light show in December 2013.

Perhaps, this item is just what you have been looking for too?

Very pretty, Changing color Star. I got it for a christmas gift From my mom, and had to wait till i got home to put it up. The colors are soft and change at a nice pace, It has a power brick so you dont have the buzz that can happen on cheaper LED Strings and Ornaments, but with that, you don't get the through plug that is so common with Christmas lights. So i had to hook it up with a outlet splitter. the cord is around 6 feet, so no problem reaching the timer box.

A few things to notice:
It is a TALL star. add to that the mount is another 4 inches, and it gets a bit tippy. the mount is also very wide, thankfully i have a fake tree, and just folded the top branch in half to fill the hole so it didn't wobble. I think next year i may try gluing the star in front of the included mount so that it is a bit more stable. (the mount is a bit ugly too, just being a green hunk of tube)

Pros:
LED = Low Power
no visual buzzing
Soft colors don't grandstand the rest of the tree
Pleasing change rate
Long power cord

Cons:
2.5 inch square power brick
no pass through plug
ugly mount
Mount too big for most tree branches

I disagree with most reviews on this. I love this star! Great for the price, looks beautiful! Yes, it's light, it's plastic.... It's supposed to look a bit tacky and old school. Looks beautiful on my tree!

In the end we liked this star, however, the picture implies the star has color to it even when not lighted. This is not the case. It is just clear plastic. The internal lights are in a small ring at the center of the star. When lighted, it looks very nice -- particularly in a dimly lit room -- but it does not look like the picture. We bought it a week before xmas and it grew on us by the big day. I've added a photo showing what it looks like lit up on the tree in a normally lit room during the day.
Also, it would be nice to have a power cord longer than 30". A longer cord would allow you to put the power transformer at the base of the tree. We had a flocked tree this year, so it took awhile to hide the black transformer so you couldn't see it on the tree.

I was looking for a nice tree topper for my boyfriend's Christmas tree. I wanted something with color because I thought his tree needed it (since he only has white lights). But, I wanted something tasteful and not too kiddie. The picture presented makes it looks as if this tree topper's colors are diffused and not too offensive. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The colors are bright and isolated - not pastel and diffused. It's tacky. I also wanted a tree topper than was a good size. This one may have actually turned out to be a little bit too big. But, it wouldn't matter what size the topper actually was with such a terrible design. The bottom point of the star just sits precariously in the green holder, and the holder is too short to anchor substantially to anything. The holder is also too narrow to fit a lot of tree branches. We never did get the tree topper to stand straight on the tree; it was always facing practically perpendicular to the ground. It was so ugly, though, that I didn't even want to put in the effort to rig it to work. It got put away and will likely not re-appear next year.
