I just received this Advent calendar and was pleasantly surprised at the quality. It is very sturdily constructed; I expect that this will last for years. Some things that aren't obvious from the picture/description: The inside of each compartment is painted dark blue. The tin manger scene in the center has raised areas, and the three dimensions give it a richer look than if it were flat. The nicest surprise was that each of the figures is wood and appears to be hand-painted. The magnet on each is small and embedded into the back of the figure, so the figure sits flush against the tin background. The magnets are strong, too, so each piece securely connects to the background (no sliding down once you let go). Please note that some of the figures are small (e.g., stars) and could present a choking hazard to a very young child. I wish it were a little deeper (I measure the depth at 1 and 5/8th inches), but because of the weight and sturdiness of it, it does stand securely on its own. There are two hooks at the top of the back for hanging it. All in all, I am very pleased with this calendar - I know my young daughter will enjoy the excitement of opening the doors each day and slowly creating the Nativity scene. And it is beautifully crafted, so I'll enjoy seeing it in our living room during the Advent season. It is well worth the cost. And incidently, it arrived two days after I ordered it (and I chose the Super Saver shipping, so 'didn't expect it to ship for 5 or more days).

Our family LOVES this Advent Calendar!!! I have two 8 year old daughters who have been enjoying this calendar for the past 4 years. It is the highlight of their day! They take turns opening the doors...my brown eyed daughter opens the brown doors and my blue eyed one opens the blue doors! I wrap all of the magnets in a bit of tissue paper so there is an element of suspense about which one they will get. I also add a small peice of candy (Hershey kisses, Brach's caramels, mini candy bars, and Goetz's caramel creams all fit nicely) and a little slip of paper with a bible passage for them to find in the bible and read to our family. It is a wonderful way to celebrate the true meaning of this blessed season! I have given one of these calendars to all of my godchildren as well.

This is a great advent calender. It is light weight, easy to manipulate for very young children, It sits nicely on a table or hang it on a wall. Magnetic pieces make it easy to apply.

What a great way to engage the whole family in the story of Christ's birth and to enjoy the entire season of Advent. The frame and magnetic pieces are sturdy and solidly made. Nothing to worry over breaking. We love it.

I ordered this calendar after Christmas, so we did not use this year but are looking forward to using next year. The base is broad enough to sit on a table without support. The doors open easily. The figures have strong magnets, so they stay where they are put. I am happy with the quality and will enjoy using this for years to come.

I almost didn't buy this product because it was so much more expensive than some of the others, but I'm glad I did. When I received it, I realized that this is an advent calendar that will be in our family for generations. It is high quality, good craftsmanship. The little figures are wooden with magnets on the back that 'stick' to the metal manger scene. Each figure is painted in detail, and this year my daughter had a wonderful time examining each of them as I told her their role in the Christmas story. This is a wonderful product to add to your family Christmas traditions.

Great Nativity for younger children - I can also see this being used for many years to come. Scene/background is nice - wood construction... figures are magnetic and hold firm to scene. My son has enjoyed finding a new figure every night and placing it in the Nativity scene. Boxes on calendar are large enough to place a small chocolate or candy inside with figure if you want to add a sweet treat as well. Shipping was fast and item was in perfect condition. So glad I decided to purchase this after looking at MANY different options.

This is a nice advent calendar, but I expected a little higher quality and detail given the reviews and list price. I can't imagine anyone in a store would pay the $100 list price once they saw the product. I think it is worth it in the $40 to $50 range, but above that you are paying quite a bit for a made in china, mass manufactured product. This isn't something where you feel like you are getting some kind of handcrafted piece of work.

I have been searching for an advent calendar for two years now. I love love love this one. It has 24 magnets for each day with a little extra space that you could add a suggestion for a service or activity....ie. make cookies for a family or drive around and look at the lights. Very very well made. Great detail on the magnets of animals, shepards, and wisemen, ect. Quality work. So great I bought another one for my sister. You can place it on the table free standing or hand it on the wall. I was extremely pleased when I received this. YOU WILL LOVE IT.

Such a great advent calendar set! The pieces are made really well and its such a nice quality. We'll use this for many many years. And it was shipped out really quickly! It's nice and big and sturdy. Love it!
