My daughter received the garden as a gift shortly after she was born and is now 10 months old. We put it in the windowsill early on, and brought it down for her when she started to reach for it. At that point, she liked touching the plants and bugs. The butterfly proboscis was the first thing ever she actually grabbed and got a grip on. She went through a phase of what her father called "clear cutting," where she would push all of the plants and bugs off. She has reached a stage where she takes one toy off at a time, then another, and then puts them together and pulls them apart, matching up the yellow dots. This toy has been enjoyable through multiple stages of development with her.
At one point, a friend's 5 year-old visited and the two played with the garden together. This girl liked arranging the flowers and pairing them with the vegetables. What I had considered the flower pot, she decided was a carrot. What I had considered a yellow peony, she explained was an onion. Following this logic, I asked if the purple one was an eggplant. "No," she told me. "It's a pineapple." I did not think that the storage issue would be a big deal until we took an overnight trip. We put the plants and bugs as well as a few other of her toys in the zipper area and easily carried it by the handle. It did not have to go in the suitcase. In short, the garden is enjoyable for several developmental ages, encourages tactile and visual exploration, and the toys are open enough to interpretation that they don't restrict those fabulous little imaginations. People have commented on the flimsiness of the "dirt" part of the "ground," which is actually something I appreciate given the number of times my daughter has toppled on to it. I love this toy.

Very expensive but this is the most adorable toy ever. My 4 year old down to my one year old loves to play with it.
Tons of imaginative play. Very versatile for boy or girl. Toy and storage all in one. Soft, sweet, great texture sensory toy.

For the price...the quality is not what I expected. Cute and unique toy, but not worth the price. Ended up returning.

My daughter got this toy last Christmas and loves it! She is two and enjoys making different flowers. Our neighbor girls also love this toy when they over (ages 18 mnths and 5). It's seems that this toy appeals to different ages since my 8mnth old also enjoys it! I would recommend this toy to friends and would also give it as a great baby shower gift.

My toddler loves this toy! My only complaint is that the brown garden surface is unstable and collapses in easily. I expected something more high quality for the price... I guess all that matters is that the kids enjoy it.
