Sadly Dissapointed,
This review is from: Kw (Audio CD)
Having established a definite standard with his first CD, Make Time for Love, Keith Washington was truly a force to be reckoned with. His second CD was indeed a nice follow up. I was expecting more of the same from KW, however, what I find even more disappointing than the cd itself is the fact he allowed it to be released with his stamp of approval. If there was any chance for a come back, KW sealed its fate. Its not to wonder why we haven't heard anything from him since...who could possibly recover from such a disappointing CD. Keith's voice is still amazing, however, he is so much deserving of the smooth, romantic flawless ballads his first two CD's so prominently established. The production on this CD truly falls short of the magic he gave us in 1991 and 1993.

The voice is there. The material is not.,

Keith Washington's third (and to date, his last) CD is extremely disappointing when compared to its two predecessors. Keith Washington is a truly superb interpreter of romantic ballads but much of the material on this CD is truly mediocre and undeserving of being interpreted by an artist of Keith Washington's calibre. Granted, this CD does have its good moments but it's sad to think that Keith's producers did not give him better material.

I didn't know that Keith Washington had released an album in 1998. It never received any airplay, from what I can remember, in the Toronto/Buffalo area. Around the late '90s, the shift from diverse offerings on the radio to more of a Hip Hop focus was starting to occur, so I can see how this album was overlooked by programmers at radio stations. It wasn't until I checked online recently that I saw this great album. The R&B stylings were different from his previous 2 CDs. It reflects the late '90s sound that was around at that time. This does not take away from the stellar vocals that Keith always delivers. The songs on tracks 1-7 are very sexually charged-it's a good thing it's only the 1st half of the album, because my CD player was just about to start smoking with all these hot tracks that Keith delivers on this gem! :o) The remainder of songs are more emotionally based and wind down to a nice completion. From beginning to end, this album is solid! If you are expecting the late '80s-'early'90s R&B style that was offered on Keith Washington's first 2 albums, you will be disappointed. If you can appreciate the changes that were taking place in the music biz during the era that this CD was released, and listen with an open mind, you will really enjoy the tracks that Keith delivers on this underrated gem! For me, it's a welcome addition to my R&B CD collection!
