Thought it was nicely made,

The anchor is a solid product for a light boat or inflatable. I have yet to take it out on the water, but it seems to be well made. My only complaint is the collar that keeps the prongs from splaying out doesn't work too well. The carrying case is nicely padded and fits the entire length of rope without spilling out. Keep in mind the rope is hollow braid polypropylene. I swapped mine out for nylon and changed to a 50'length.
4/18/2010 UPDATE: Since purchasing in July of 2009 for a 11' inflatable boat, I've used the anchor 3 times. It was used in saltwater for 2-4 days at a time and thoroughly rinsed in fresh water each time. Well, this last trip out, it started slipping so I pulled up the anchor and the the 4 flukes had broken off. It wasn't heavy current at all, nor was it forcefully yanked upon. I'm going to look for another option.

Flawed Design Rust Vulnerable,
By Jo Brunt (Sleepy Hollow) - See all my reviews

I have used this anchor for two seasons in the salt and it just came totally apart on me. Turns out that the painted coating is no protection from rust at the important hinge points. This coupled with the fact that the anchor is held together with rust-liable pins is a recipe for failure. Even before this happened, I had the complaints that the line is not long enough and I had to add 3 feet of chain to place the flukes in the best position to hold quickly. My Advice is to buy a galvanized anchor and go to the hardware store for a short length of chain, a line of the length of your choosing, a small float and assemble it on your own. That's what I did for my wife's boat this spring instead of buying another one of these and now I'm off to the hardware store to rig a galvanized anchor for myself (Attwood makes them in 3 and 5 pound weight that look and operate something like this one but are better constructed; that's what I used). Rigging your own anchor is a bit of fun anyway and you can have it just the way you want it; lots of clever rigging ideas out there on the net.

This is the best anchor for a PWC. With the bouy, you can unhook and leave your anchor without the hassle of pulling it in each time. The grapnel holds in rock or sand.

I bought this item for my 14 ft Jon boat and it works on the lakes and such but wouldn't take it out on the river with the current. It is a cheap anchor for a cheap price and would be more fitted for a pwc like a wave runner under the seat. Works for what I need but once it breaks (and it will) I will be buying something else. The item has a lock ring that allows it to expand and it feels cheaper but for the money its good.

Great for use on kayak,

Great anchor - I use with a kayak for fishing and it's great having a float so you can unclip, drift around, and then come back and clip on.

We have had no problems. The float does what it should, the anchor sticks where it should and so far, it comes up when we want it to. It has a back up system to release it but we've never needed to rig it for that, yet! Nice quality and good storage bag. Haven't found anything bad and given the quality of products today, that in itself is amazing.

The Kwik tek complete grapnel anchor system is perfect for our jet ski. It is so compatible with the small space on the ski for storage and since it has its own case it is very easily stored.

First time I used it three of the four tines broke off. If I did not have a friend with a PWC, my Seadoo would be out some where in the Atlantic right know. I do not suggest this item if you plan to use it in a strong current area.

Perfect for my Canoe,

Very compact with long rope. I use it in my canoe on streams and rivers so rope is a lot longer than needed in 6ft of water. With a fast current, this needs to be "hooked" onto something in order to hold canoe in place. Have not used in a lake, but if it works well in a river, it's gotta work even better in a lake.
