I actually purchased 2 of these at my local hardware store... good products. the finish and action of the lever is great... I did have one problem with one of them though...it actually re-keyed itself after about 2-3 months of use! Because I no longer had the receipts I just started leaving it unlocked when I was not at home... I called customer service today- explained the situation. They are sending me out a new lock cylinder pretty much no questions asked- I think I was on the phone all of 2 minutes. So if you have an issue, don't hesistate to call them!

I originally bought this handle to replace our front door handle when we had the house painted 6 months ago. I've liked it so much that I'm getting another for the back door. It is very sturdy feeling and the ability to change the keying on the lock is really easy and amazing. It allowed me to get just the front door lever first without changing my other locks and now I can add the second door again.

I went to the local hardware store and compared it with lots of other levers from many manufacturers. The Kwikset re-keying feature for a good price made it the winner over some other manufacturers. On the front door, I also was able to get a matching deadbolt without re-keying. The reason I chose this lock over other Kwikset locks is that the lever is a bit thicker with smooth edges. It doesn't have sharp edges and is easy to grip. The action is very smooth.

Purchased 3 of these same lever Smartkey lock sets and was pleased with the build quality. It came with all the necessary pieces and tool to get this installed. You only need you have a philips screwdriver. For the first lock, it took me a little longer (about 60 mins) to figure what what was needed to be done to install this. Bear in mind, I am not the most mechanically inclined person (so, says my wife) and after I figured out the process, the next 2 locks were installed under 15 mins and that time include uninstalling the original locks. Again, this time is for existing installed door locks that one is replacing. Was also able to re-key the lock to a set of 4 identical keys and that took under 15 seconds per lock.

This is a great door lock. It was fairly easy to install in a door that already had a bored hole. The instructions were detailed enough to get by, but they had fairly small print. The smart key option is the best thing I've ever seen. The only caveot is that it cannot be keyed to any key. I tried to rekey it to my old house key, but the grooves were opposite so I couldn't. It does work with any Kwikset key which is nice. I bought the deadbolt Kwikset 985 15 SMT CP Double Cylinder Deadbolt with SmartKey, Satin Nickel as well and rekeyed this lock to the deadbolt lock so that I just needed one key to get in my house. We also have a cleaning lady come, so we gave her a special key that we will rekey the locks for when she comes. It is very easy to do and comforting that you can change your locks at any time without actually changing your locks.

Nice thick handle with crease down the center. I replaced every handle in my house with these. The smartKey feature made it easy to key 8 exterior door locks to one key by myself. Love these handles.
