5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Quick Games! February 5, 2014

Simple to learn, easy to play and - once you get the hang of it - even most of the levels in the hardest pack should require less than a minute to solve. You get 3 stars if you can complete using the minimum number of moves, but you'll pass anyway provided you have not made more than three extra moves (each extra move deducts one star). And if you're stuck, there's a solution for each level to walk you through.

The basic gameplay is identical to the free game Zyan Drench, but this game offers more & different challenges. The graphics are simple; not particularly attractive but it'll do. The music is not exactly my cup of tea, but I could always lower its volume independent of my device's volume settings, or turn it off altogether.

This pro version requests network access, and has an ad component in it (presumably carried over from the free version but deactivated). Given access to the internet, I only saw it connect to Amazon, and I saw no ads at all inside the game; anyway, it runs fine even with internet access denied.

I finished the first, easiest pack (20 levels) very quickly (since I've played similar games before) and encountered no crashes or freezes but, since no two devices are the same, the only way to know whether it will be trouble-free for you too is to test it yourself. ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed these puzzles February 5, 2014

In "Color Oil" you must combine several colored areas on the game board into one color. You do this by selecting a color from selections at the bottom of the screen that will turn your current "Home" area into the color of some adjacent area. It sounds difficult to get from a description, but the first screen walks you through one puzzle and then it is clear.

Each time you select a color is a move. On easy puzzles you'll have the same number of allowed moves as colors. In more complicated screens you may have an extra move or two. By comparing the number of colors on the screen to the allowed moves for that puzzle, you will see how many times you can change a color more than once ... important information.

You score by meeting the move goal for a puzzle so that you get all three stars for that puzzle. Also, your score is lowered by using Help or taking back moves. There is some nice planning ahead involved as the puzzles get more complicated.

This game does exit cleanly, but to do that make sure you use the Back arrow from its Home screen, and not the Home button. The Home button will leave Color Oil in memory as a background process.

I played this on a Kindle Fire HD 8.9 with no problems, and the app permissions are very limited. I did not have the app freezes another reviewer reported ... there may be a difference in app performance between the HD and the HDX. This is one I'll play far beyond its free day.

Highly recommended.

The goal is straight forward and easy to learn. The puzzles get a bit harder as you progress but the way you solve them is always the same, changing colors until everything is the same.

Each level is ranked by the number of moves needed to solve it and you lose "stars" for each move above the best solution. There is not time limit so this is great for meetings or classes where you might be distracted in the middle of a puzzle. You also have the option to back up a step at a time and can also restart any level very easily.

The only minor annoyance is that the game is designed to play with your screen oriented in portrait mode. It does work if your tablet is oriented sideways, say on a stand but the everything works sideways. (like I said, "minor annoyance")

Overall, this is a very playable collection of puzzles and handy for anytime you need a short break or quick distraction.

The price asked is reasonable for the value received. As a free app it is a "must".

4.0 out of 5 stars What's Enough's Problem???? June 14, 2015

This is a great little game for waiting at the doctor's office. I'm GRATEFUL for FAOTD repeats!!!

Not everyone sits around each day waiting to see what can be had for free. Lots of us have other lives away from keeping track of the Appstore offerings. I love the opportunity to pick up on one I may have missed earlier.

This Color Oil Pro game is just simple logic. I'm glad that Amazon offered it free again for those of us who missed it. I believe anyone who can't handle that should just browse FREE apps, or, god forbid pay $1 for something!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and fun to play! February 5, 2014

As the game starts you are given a screen with multiple colors on it and you are to convert each color so that the entire screen is the same color. Your start is a key cell of color labeled S and you touch color icons on the bottom of the screen to change to main cell to match an adjacent cell's color. Sounds easy huh? Of course it is not. You have to do it in a minimum number of moves and if you use them all and three more moves you have to start the level over. The game does give you stars based on how you use the minimum number of steps.

When you start a level the minimum number of steps is listed in the upper RH corner. This is a logic game and you have to think how to choose the proper color progression to minimize the number of moves. If you go over the number of moves you begin to lose stars and when you run out of stars you have to play that level over. The counter in the upper RH corner keeps track of your moves for you.

Overall I found the game fun and interesting. It would be a great time killer if you have a few minutes. I like the fact that there is no clock and if you have to stop you can go back right to where you were. It takes the pressure off of you and just makes the game more fun.

The game does have internet access but on my Kindle Fire I was able to turn it off and still play the game. That is good for your children as they won't be able to buy games or go to Facebook. This is a fun game and I rated it 5 stars. Get it while it is free and it is enough fun that it is worth the price to buy it.

The game features 310 levels and each level gets progressively harder.
