I like this hat. My dog doesn't. Still, it did what it was supposed to, at least until my little guy shook it off (about 2 minutes after it was on). I don't think there's any way to make sure it stays on my guy. The strap is fine and everything, and is adjustable, but if my dog doesn't want to wear it, he can easily get it off.

In terms of sizing, I purchased the large, and it fit my 50-55 lbs boxer puppy. I bet it would fit him until he's full size (probably around 80 lbs).

Also, as a side note, my dog eventually decided to turn the hat into a toy and chewed through the elastic strap. It is, however, now one of his favorite "toys".
