More fun for our dog than the standard Iqube,

This review is from: Kyjen Holiday I-Qube Puzzle Plush Interactive Dog Toy, Large (Misc.)
Our then 10 month old boxer-mix dog loved the standard Iqube toy so we could not resist this item as a Christmas present for her. Am I ever glad I bought two! This product has all the benefits of the standard I-cube: a sturdy plush box, lots of interactive play, a game that stimulates the dog's mind and most of all fun for owners and dogs. Our dog is a rescue special needs (extremely fearful and undersocialized) adoptee. The Iqube toys and the Hide-A-(bee, bird, etc) toys are the one addition to our home that helped her come out of her shell. She loves poking her nose in the cube and pulling out the small toys. These toys encouraged her to move from being so so scared to having wonderful dog-like moments.
My one caution is that the balls are not that sturdy for chewers. The cube box is quite sturdy. This toy is best for interactive play. With oui dog, we let her pull the toys out, then we take them from her (a good training step itself for dogs to learn the "leave it" command), stuff them back in and then start all over. She plays with this toy for quite some time each day without getting bored. Not only has the toy helped her have moments of pure fun and play instead of fear, but this toy is also a great tool to calm her down when our cat decides he has played enough but she still wants to play. The two are great friends but she is still a puppy with a puppy's desire to play -- which is getting stronger the less fearful she become so this toy is a welcome distraction to divert her attention. Our dog likes this version of the Iqube the best. The little hats on the balls are more fun for her. She likes to grab the hats. The hats increase the longevity and sturdiness. (All three balls are still intact after 2 months whereas she has split open 2 of them from the standard I-cube by now.) This version of the Iqube interests her for a longer amount if time than the standard one (which she also loves). A treat stuck inside of the cube in the beginning helped her to figure out what to do with the toy. When the dog does eventually destroy the balls, the cubes make for a great place to stuff treats and other toys for a longer life of the toy and for more variety for the dog. This product is a toy for many dogs, but if you have a fearful or anxious dog, getting this toy is one of the best things you can do for your dog and for yourself as well.

In general, this product works as described. Our dog is a black lab... who prefers to tease us with the balls out of it (he has removed the hats off of two of them already) ... he loves the whole toy... but the balls he plays with seperately as well. They have held up more than a day (better than the hedgehog toy). Go figure.

I have the hide a squirrel and my dog loves it so I figured I would try this one. He is able to get the toys out of the cube very quickly. He really likes just playing with the toys since they squeak. They are very durable and to my surprise, the Santa hats have not been chewed off. This is a very well made dog toy.
