Product Description

Size: Medium

This Treat Training Tube device is the ultimate fetching toy. Dogs must bring the tube back and release it to you in order to receive the treat inside. The controlled reward teaches rambunctious dogs to fetch and release the toy without a struggle, instead of a disruptive tug-o-war or chase. Perfect for teaching scent work.

3.0 out of 5 stars It works, but it is not very easy to use, January 25, 2010
I had been looking for a similar toy that my teacher had used to teach my dog to fetch. The concept is good for food motivated dogs. If you have not been able to teach your dog to fetch or retrieve with a regular toy, this toy does work. Since the dog can see, hear and smell the treats inside but can't get them out on his own, he has to bring it to you for him to get treated. However, I don't think the execution of how the toy is made is great. Once you load the treats, it is difficult to get them out of the slit that is on one of the tube ends. You have to press pretty hard to get the slit to open up so you can remove the treat and give it to your dog (even with small treat pieces). To fill it up, you can pull out the opposite end and can have access to the entire tube opening. The tube material just doesn't seem like it would last very long. The ends of the plastic tube should be a little harder, I am afraid that every time I pull the ends out and put them back on the tube, eventually the tube will crack. I have no idea how it will hold up if you are throwing it outside to play with your dog. If you are looking for something similar that I believe works better, try the Treat Capsule toy by PetStages. But it is sized for smaller dogs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Dogs didn't care for, August 14, 2008

This review is from: Kyjen Dog Treat Training Tube, Medium (Misc.)
My lab was smart enough to understand and brought the treat back a few times. My St Bernard knew it was something special, but I just couldn't get her to even pick it up.

Decent quality. Good thickness of plastic, I just wish there were some holes in it so the dogs could smell the treats inside.
