I looked at a number of these graters before choosing this one, and some might be better suited to specific purposes other than grating ginger (someone mentioned cheese on one review, and wished it was bigger), but this is a perfect size for me needs. It grates the ginger much faster than I expected, the teeth are very effective, and the non-stick ring on the bottom is great, the thing stays in place very well while you are grating.

Nice compact size; in a small kitchen that's a plus. I got it primarily to grate garlic cloves and ginger, and it does so perfectly. I also like how easy it is to clean up- just rinse and put in the dishwasher. (I would always find stuff stuck inside my garlic press, even after being washed.)

This works very well for grating ginger. The sharp teeth in the middle, the moat around it for collecting everything, the small handy size for storage, and the ease of washing this all make it a top-notch tool.I have different graters for cheese (oxo good grips with a handy box that measures it as you grate), citrus (nothing beats the microplane), nutmeg (small microplane), and garlic (kuhn-rikon easy squeeze is awesome), so maybe I just don't expect one grater to work for every single thing. If you do, you have to expect that it's obviously not going to do as good of a job as if you own multiple graters, but it depends on your kitchen storage space and your own personal preferences. I haven't tried to grate anything else but ginger on this.

This Ginger grater removes the "strings" and leaves a silky, finely grated, aromatic ginger pulp, perfect for seasoning dishes.Be prepared to use up more ginger than you are used to when mincing ginger, as the strings tend to make up a fairly hefty percentage of the ginger root. But, it is well worth it. Leave the ginger root whole, and peel off the skin a bit more from one end of the whole thumb of the root. Then start grating. I love this tool! And its good for grating large cloves of garlic also. You WILL find other uses for it. Kyocera 3-1/2-Inch Ceramic Grater

This thing works great and is much easier to clean up than a micro-plane. I've seen them in larger sizes, but I think the 3.5 inch one is perfect because is stores well in a drawer.

I got this largely for grating ginger which I have found to be a pain, in more ways than one. (I seemingly always end up with a cut or two). Well same story with this. It doesn't stay stable when grating and a lot of the grated ginger gets caught in the ceramic teeth rather than the flat dish part of the implement. But it is easy to clean.

For breaking down ginger, this simple little device is hard to beat. It grinds the ginger get the juice and soft pulp out while leaving the thick stringy inedible stuff behind. My only complaint is that is it too small. The next size larger would be much more useful. One of the best aspects of this device is it's simplicity and durability. Just throw it in the dish washer when you are done with and it's as good as new. Grating ginger with a microplane is a nightmare compared to this.

I use this for ginger, lemon peel, large garlic, apple. I'm sure there are other things I could use it for. So elegantly simple and easy to use, very easy to clean, as it really only needs a rinse. If the house was burning, I'd grab this!!

I had one for so many years; until recently it felt from my counter and broke; It works nicely to grate nugmet seeds or any other seeds; my daughter is using it as well to pure fresh fruits apples, pears and peaches to feed her 9 months old baby, she mixes the pure to the yogurt or cereal and baby is happy.
