4.0 out of 5 stars Works very well, gives you some exercise during meals
Grinds my flax seeds well, but it takes quite a lot of twisting to get a fair amount of ground product on your plate. Still, I would buy it again.

Update: it broke after three years. That seems like a fair life for a well-used product that gets twisted a lot.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great for pepper, not so much for flaxseeds
I got this mill with the intent of using it to grind my flaxseeds every morning and thereby avoiding my blender. 3.0 out of 5 stars Great for pepper, not so much for flaxseeds, September 20, 2010

I got this mill with the intent of using it to grind my flaxseeds every morning and thereby avoiding my blender. However, it took a LOT of turns on the mill to get my little tablespoon of flaxseeds ground up, I would say about 150 turns. So I changed the setting, tried it several different ways (from coarse to fine) and also just put in a teaspoon of seeds at a time to try to get it to work more easily for me. I mean it does grind the flaxseeds, but just be prepared to sit and grind awhile, you'll be looking at a good 2 minutes of wrist exercise every morning to get your flaxseeds ground up. Easier just to blend them...All is not lost for me, I still use it to grind pepper which it is great for, and I imagine it is wonderful for sea salt, etc., but if you are looking for a flaxseed grinder I would say stick with your blender, grind up a week's worth or so, and remember to freeze your ground seeds or put them in the refrigerator so they don't go bad on you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not working as well as expected, November 25, 2009

This might be one of those old lady with arthritic fingers problems but the adjustable grind button got stuck after only a few uses and can't be moved. I never could get it adjusted properly for a fine grind. I end up with large chunks of peppercorns in everything. I have the Kyocera fine grind ceramic salt mill that I like very much and will probably buy a second one with black top for pepper and retire this one for other chores. Otherwise it's reasonably attractive and holds plenty of peppercorns.

i like that this grinder is adjustable. it has a cover on the top which will eventually get lost. not the best looking grinder but good for the chef that wants to control the size of the grind!

5.0 out of 5 stars I love these mills, July 17, 2010

I have 3 of these now. The small to large circle gauge on the top are for direction of grind size (not exact settings). I suggest a little trial and error on a paper towel to find the grind you like.

I have one for my favorite peppercorns, smoked sea salt, and my Celtic Grey salt. They do not absorb flavors or stains. A quick wash and dry are all that is needed for new contents. Highly recommend these all-purpose grinders.

2.0 out of 5 stars Extremely hard to open, February 28, 2011

The grinder itself works well, but when it is time to refill, the top is extremely difficult to remove from the glass jar. I've had to use items with a very good grip or a strap wrench to separate the two parts. There is only about a half inch depth of plastic to grip on the top part. The bottom of the plastic part with the threads cracked after only using it for about three months (and no, that was not with the strap wrench, but likely got too tight and cracked from grinding).

My husband uses this for his beloved lemon pepper that normally gums up grinders. No such issues with this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really like this grinder, November 23, 2010

I ordered four of these, and have thus far tried two of them with sea salt and black peppercorns. I really like the fact that the grinder is on the top, and it has a cap to keep out the dust. At first, I had a little difficulty adjusting it to get the grind that I wanted, but then discovered that the arrows indicating course and fine on the top are just "directional". You have to press down on the white knob and turn it in the direction desired, until the grind looks right to you. They are super easy to fill, and very easy to see the contents through the transparent glass. In summary, this is a winner in our kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dependable Do-All, August 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kyocera The Everything Mill Adjustable Grinder, Black (Kitchen)
I am now the owner of two of these simple, but effective, grinders from Kyocera. After a months long trial with my initial purchase I had to add another because it just plain works - and well. Grind is adjustable and holds the setting. I like the fact that the ceramic grinder handles damp ingredients - like types of natural sea salt - without clogging or impairing the grinder mechanism.
For the price it can't be beat. Filling and use is easy and secure with a threaded top - not like the twist-lock model it replaced. That item's fill cap was on the bottom of the grinder and the twist-lock lost its grip after a year's use. It would loosen and pop open at the most inconvenient times. Ever try to pick 50 peppercorns out of a plated and dressed salad? Not a chance of that happening with the Kyocera Everything Grinder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product and works very well for dipping spices, August 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kyocera The Everything Mill Adjustable Grinder, Black (Kitchen)
I purchased this mill primarily to grind up dipping spices. The mill does a great job grinding the spices fine enough to float on top of the olive oil. They now stick to the bread very well when dipping. Before the larger flakes of spices would all sink to the bottom of the plate and would not stick to the bread.Kyocera The Everything Mill Adjustable Grinder, Black
