5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic!, June 26, 2007

YSC "ciac" (Mamaroneck, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Bluetooth® Stereo Headset/Headphones (Electronics)
After three sets of lackluster A2DP headband-less headphones, this set is by far the best. I'm excited, and I love them! However I'll try to be as unbiased as possible.

Pros:
1. Great price. This is regardless of anything else, not to mention it has

2. Impeccable quality - the unit has a piano black finish. Now while tastes are subjective, it is amazing how they managed to do a perfect paint job without even a scratch on it. That's rare to find in today's mass-produced products, and I'm one of those obsessive compulsive type who notice these little flaws. The button switches also work great, with beeping indicators for audio controls.

3. Great bluetooth performance - Easy pairing: The most common problem with bluetooth headsets are pairing issues. So far it worked well with my Sony Ericsson K800i and a Broadcom based bluetooth USB dongle on my PC running Widcomm Software v.5.1.x. The A2DP works well for both, and never dropped. Depending on device, it also gave me a respectable distance of at least 20ft from my K800i.

4. Good sound quality - Now these are not audiophile headphones. Also with its physical limitation (there just isn't enough room to fit all that electronics and the acoustic chamber), you can expect some "tinny" sound quality. However, it's not severe, and better than most but the higer quality wired earbuds (such as sennheiser, shure, etc.). The bass is again limited by its physical design, but is definitely above average. I personally don't have any problem enjoying it for long listening, something that I cannot say about some of the other A2DP headsets I tried. It can also be very loud, something that's good for city environments.

5. Portable and not obtrusive: I hang these around my neck when not used, and they are very discreet and (in my opinion) very stylish. The fit is surprisingly comfortable. The fact it doesn't have a neck band makes it very unique among the A2DP headphones. It also worked well with my glasses.

6. Standard USB charging port - this thing comes with a USB based charging cable and a USB port AC converter. The connector is a standard USB mini jack found in many of today's newer digital cameras--fewer things to carry when traveling. I love standards, and I give kudos to Kyocera for that.

What's not good? Hmm.. The exquisite piano black paint and brushed metal finish makes me scared of scratching it. The paint is also a finger print magnet (not that you can really see it). The pouch also is a snug fit, and the headphones are surely to bang against each other in the pouch during travel. Otherwise, the battery lasts pretty long before needing a recharge (sorry I haven't done a test here, but it lasts a few days with daily commute listening). Oh yeah, you can use this for calls too. Kyocera sells these direct as well.

The headsets has a perfect combination of build quality, style and functionality. What's not to love?

My $0.02

4.0 out of 5 stars Top Notch, June 7, 2007
This review is from: Bluetooth® Stereo Headset/Headphones (Electronics)
These headphones live up to their description well. I had them on full volume for over 12 hours the first time out. And they charge quickly too. Three hours and done. Sound quality is decent and hand off from music to call is smooth too. One issue is driving with only one ear covered (for safety) is awkward and sometimes gets tangled. If you're comfortable driving with both ears covered, this is not a problem. Overall I rated these at four stars. Quality sound, quality battery life and easy to use. If you need a stereo set for your phone or PDA, these are definitely worth the cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!, August 16, 2007
This review is from: Bluetooth® Stereo Headset/Headphones (Electronics)
Great battery life, and loud sound - I use it at 25% volume.
These work as both a stereo headset and as a hands-free (headset).
The built-in mic has excellent reception - better than my plantronics discovery headset with swivel mic!
I like the case, accessories, and standard mini-usb port.
Music control (previous song, next, pause/resume play) with headset controls.

After pairing to both my PC bluetooth dongle and cell phone, I was pleasantly surprised when I got a call while listening to music on my PC. The headset beeped. when I pressed the button, it put my music on hold and let me take the call, automatically resuming my music after the call ended.
I love it!
