Le Orme - Italian Progressive Rock Masters Still Going Strong,

This review is from: L段nfinito (Audio CD)
The Italian progressive rock stalwart's most recent release finds the band once again putting out a very strong album. The main difference on this disc is a new keyboard player. He plays a lot of very "guitar" sounding keyboards which gives this album a bit of a different feel from much of the band's earlier works. Everything else sounds like vintage Le Orme and I would think that fans of the band's older material would really enjoy this album. I am not quite sure if this is a concept album or not (lyrics are all in Italian), but from the way everything seems to flow together I suspect that it may be. Le Orme remains one of the all time great Italian progressive rock outfits and this album is evidence that the band still has it.

Still A Great Band After More Than 35 Years!!!,

I can't believe this CD hasn't been reviewed here yet. I got it over a year ago, and I cannot get over how fresh their sound is on this release. They continue to amaze with their diversity (they use some sitar here and there) instrumentally and compositionally. 32 years after the release of Uomo di Pezza, they are on top of their game with L'Infinito. Although the keyboardist has changed, they still have a Hammond organ-driven sound, which is still in the style of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. There are tender ballads, funky organ-driven rockers, and world-beat (staying with the times) songs. Each song flows into the next, giving the relatively short album a concept feel to it. Aldo Tagliapietra's voice is as strong as ever, and remains the trademark of the band (along with the keyboard stylings). If you are a fan of earlier works, or enjoy ELP, DO ADD THIS to your collection. You won't regret it.

One of the best Le Orme cd's ever, along with Uomo Di Pezza. If you have not seen yet the DVD of Live In Pennsylvania, you must do at once. You'll enjoy it because contains several songs of L'Infinito.

Despite the suite, a bit inferior than their best hits, but never "dated", check it out! So you can add an 1/2 star in the score!,

Well the present new effort by Aldo Tagliapietra with "Le Orme" is so close to the spirit of his solo-albums, but it's quite modern in the same time: that's a kind of "New-age", a personal interesting language, inside a "Light Symphonic apparatus", already used within their previous albums "Elementi" and "Il Fiume"...moreover it's a kind of return to their delicious music features contained into some progressive pop albums like "Florian", but according a different music style, a sort of new "Celtic" spirit!! A relaxing mood it is, without any peak of invention, comparable to "Contrappunti" or the early progressive atmosphere of "Collage",but of course it's worth checking out. Besides I like to remark its diverse atmosphere, in comparison for example to the dark mood of "Felona e Sorona", probably their best album, which makes this new album a quite recommended work... By completing your personal collection regarding Le Orme- "L'infinito" is tasteful, as I like listenining to it without being too much involved...it has got a strong personality and cause of all my explanations above it deserves also a major score (another half star at least): after all "Le Orme" are one of the best Italian Progressive Bands of all time and- even though the present suite is a bit inferior than their best albums mentioned above (but never "dated")- check it out anyway and perhaps add something more in the final evaluation!

I read a review in the Dutch magazine IO pages about this album. The review gave me an good idea about this album. And its a typical Mediterranean product: warm, sensetive, beautiful and artistic. Very good symphonic compositions with a very good an tasty italian sauce. This album tastes for more!
