I have no clear idea of exactly why the Luscher color test works, I simply know that, in my own case, it proved incredibly accurate. It is amazing that a simple selection sequence of eight colored cards could reveal so much about internal anxieties, compensations, and conflicts. Yet, there definately is a correlation with these inner states and color preference.

This is probably the easiest of the deep psychological tests to administer and interpret. It is not a game and is not to be used carelessly or improperly. In fact, I first heard about it in graduate school when I overheard one of the psychology professors go ballistic when he found that the undergraduates were administering the test to each other. He wasn't upset because he thought it was nonsense, on the contrary, he was upset because he knew it to be a deep and powerful tool with the potential to do great damage if misused.

One further warning, if you buy an older edition of this book make sure that: #1 the eight cards are included, and #2 that they are not too badly faded.

Oh yes, the text states that this test is still accurate even if you are color blind!

Back in the 80's(my favorite time) I was going to this convention on survival preparedness and being the kid I was I was drawn to this what I thought was a video game, after plunking in my 50 cents and started the system up I found out that this was some type of test so I preceded on and after I picked my colors two different times it gave me a pretty detailed version of who I was. To say the least I was very impressed and I started to research this thing called the color test, back then it was hard to find information on it but I finally came across the Luscher color test and bought the book many years ago. I practiced it many times but after moving a few times and losing track of my stuff I had lost the book, funny thing is I never gave it much thought until recently and once again could not remember the name of the book but after a little search on the Net, I once again found it on Amazon and bought it. I highly recommend this book, it is a fun way to get to know yourself on a deeper level, but if you want the real color test given my Luscher himself you will pay over a $100 dollars for the test but it is more detailed and more rewarding. Remarkable test -yes! I will use it together with my hypnotherapy for my clients. Book in very good condition. Colors reveal the real You! An aid for lots of therapists!

I am an Art Teacher and Artist so I am always interested in different ways to look at color. Compelling.

I am shocked to learn that this book claims that selecting the color purple first labels you either homosexual or the member of a non-Western country which means you're immature, underdeveloped, and live in a fantasy world. I am even more shocked that no one appears to have been as appalled as I am by this bigoted language. Maybe they didn't even get to the purple page. I couldn't go forward with color selection, I was so appalled and instead recycled the book. Even if it were only that single color's description I would not be able to use the test because of the icky energy attached to such blatant bigotry. I must also add that the positive language attributed to the conformity of selecting the four primary colors within the first five positions rings so strongly of corporate elitism and social conformism that I am not surprised to learn that human resource professionals use the test. Indeed, it gives me a deep insight into the corporate scandals that have trashed our economy.

First the good things. The book is in pretty good shape and delivery was very expedite. I had several questions about the book and whe seller was very kind answering them for me before I even mention to place the order.

The bad thing (my fault not seller's fault) is that this is the OLD color test, the one where you have only 8 color cards. I was looking for the new version where you have 8 cards too, but with different combination of colors. It's a more complete test than this one and, that is the test that recruiters apply regularly and not this one.
For personal purposes this book works really well, but for profesional purposes, it is an old version
