Collins capably narrates her latest fable of Hollywood's aristocracy, originally released as a four-part paperback serial novel. More quickly paced than her previous novel, Thrill (Audio Reviews, LJ 4/15/98), L.A. Connections will please listeners looking for a wild ride with the rich and famous inhabitants of Tinsel Town. The action centers around Madison Castelli, a journalist covering "the rich, notorious, and powerful" for Manhattan Style magazine. Her new assignment takes her to Hollywood to interview Freddie Leon, a renowned but rather reclusive talent agent. Madison soon finds herself covering the story of her career when the up-and-coming starlet whom she just interviewed is found brutally murdered. The narrative shifts rapidly among characters, which also include a serial killer with a penchant for prostitutes, the proprietor of a call girl service for the stars, and a high-class prostitute with a heart of gold. This book keeps you wondering about everything: the murder, the characters, the story line. It is filled with more real life story plots than lustfull sex scenes.(That's a good thing!)

L.A. Connections is a well written mini-series with all the good qualities of Collins other books except with one difference, a good mystery plot that keeps you guessing.
