Santogold's "LES Artistes" made its way onto a promo for the hit show Gossip Girl. It's an intoxicating blend of dance,reggae,lo-fi,and whatever artistic impulses she has in mind. Santogold is often compared with her compatriot MIA,but the difference is that "Les Artistes" has a bubbly,almost retro sound. It's New Wave meets Caribbean,hip hop,and so on. Santogold defies categorization (that's why she's not on America's Top 40 with Ryan Seacrest) "LES Artistes" celebrates the Bohemian life--and dance!
