These fiery renditions surpassed my expectations!,

Once again the L.A.G.Q. triumphs with their transcriptions of the very well known works included here. All of the music lends itself very well to the instrument, especially in the hands of this phenomenal quartet. This debut recording of the Ian Krouse selection is dramatic, dynamic and generally astounding. This is absolutely one of my favorite guitar recordings.

This CD is for those who love romantic guitar music, Spanish masters and Spanish themed classics. Top Notch all the way.

It was a gift for my father who turned 88 on March 1st.
I sent it to him in Spain. He has been a guitar teacher all his life and still has students now in his ripe old age. He loved it, loved the music, loved the way they play.

I really enjoy classical guitar, so I was interested in listening to this compilation of guitar pieces performed by the LA Guitar Quartet.
Most of the pieces I enjoyed, but there was one I just didn't care for (the Ian Krouse piece). But, you can't have everything, I suppose. Apart from that, the playing was top-notch and well-recorded. For those interested in classical guitar, another budget disc is 'Guitar Magic', which has no 'clunkers' on it. The title of the album comes from the one Debussy work on the disc. Recommended. It would get five stars if I had enjoyed every work on the disc. As it is, 4 1/2 stars. |
