Both in musical structure and lyrically, this song treads the same ground as the classic "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed. That's not a bad thing, 'cause Noah and the Whale brings something new -- a fun, gentle hip-swinging feel and a pleasantly catchy s-p-e-l-l-e-d o-u-t chorus. If you like plainspoken, sunny, and hooky little tunes, check it out.

While less dark than CTD's "mmm mmm mmm mmm" it constructs a similar narrative; as in it tells the story of a few characters, probably loosely based on people known by members of the bang at some point in their careers. I like it. It works.
