4.0 out of 5 stars Not really the whole Season 1
The item I received did not have the same wording as the advertised cover. Instead of saying Season 1 at the top, it said Volume 1. I found that to be misleading, anyone purchasing this item should note it is not season one of LA INK but volume one of Season One.

3.0 out of 5 stars Awsome show...Bad packaging!!!
A year or so back I had no clue who the h**l Kat Von D was. One of my friends liked her show and her love for tattoos. So I decided to look her up online and to my surprise...wow! Her work is very in depth and awsome! I don't have cable so I am not able to watch her television show. When I saw The First Season was coming out on dvd, I had to have it! I didn't buy it when...

3.0 out of 5 stars Awsome show...Bad packaging!!!, January 28, 2009
This review is from: L.A. Ink: Season 1 (DVD)
I didn't buy it when it first came out due to issues.

Recently I went over my friends house and she has cable and we were watching it. The show is awsome! Recently my set arrived in the mail and I have been watching it since then. You get to see a little in-depth look into her personal life along with her love for tattoos. Her JOB! Tattooing is not an easy job...as it is shown on the show. Kat and her posse are very good at their work and are very great artists!

Great Reality T.V. Show!!! Not full of bulls**t!!!

Problems are:

This dvd set says on the box Season 1 Vol. 1. I dont get why? Too much confusion here! I looked on many websites online and it lists 13 episodes for Season 1. This set includes 13 episodes which makes the entire first season. So why do they have it say "Season 1 Vol.1?

The 3 dvds in this set are not in your regular dvd case. No regular case...no slim cases. They are kept in cardboard sleeves. WTH! So everytime you take out a disc to watch it will get scratched. So why would you want to buy dvds that will get scratched each time you want to watch it? When I took out each disc to inspect them, they had light scratches. Light scratches "who cares" some may say? I care! I spent my money on a dvd set that should last a while, not a year. It says that the dvd companies are cheap with releasing television dvd sets!! I believe it's a sneeky ploy. They make them cheap, so then when it messes up people will keep buying the sets over and over again.

Also if you like your dvds to have awsome extras...this set doesn't have them!

5.0 out of 5 stars About time, April 16, 2008

I know that I should be waiting till the release before I type out a review, but this is for the show, not the dvd that is finally coming out. When I previously reviewed the first season of Miami Ink (read my review here: http://www.amazon.com/Miami-Ink-Season-1/dp/B000TJ6PCO/ref=cm_cr-mr-img), I had mentioned that LA Ink was the better show. So far, I've not been proven wrong. When Kat Von D was ejected from Miami Ink, I'm sure that Ami James had good reason to let her go. The two artists weren't exactly getting along, always clashing, especially when Kat didn't want to do tattoo certain artwork. But in a way, Ami isn't any better in my opinion. Nothing about him or his crew appeals to me at all. My old boss on his worst day pales to how much I dislike the artists at Miami Ink...and believe me, I hate my old boss. Whenever I watched the show, all I saw were grown men on their periods. Ironically, that show is all guys in the shop while LA Ink has 4 women and 1 man in a shop. Enough about Miami Ink. After Kat left Miami, she went back home to Los Angeles in hopes of opening up a new tattoo shop, and hiring some of the best and brightest tattoo artists to ever use a tattoo needle. Meet the crew, Corey Miller: the sultan of free-hand and black & gray, Hannah Aitchison: colorful pin-ups are one of her specialties, Kim Saigh: open to not just one style of tattooing, able to make her work shine, and Pixie: the shop's manager, and Kat's best friend. Recently, I've not seen any new episodes, so I'm guessing that the 2nd season has wrapped up. A lot has happened over the course of that season, but let's not get ahead for the first season isn't even out yet on dvd. This is the best tattoo show on television, period. The dvd set won't be available for a while, so if you've not watched the show, check it out online at the official TLC website in the meantime.

What a Great show - I love it. Kat Von D is a cool chick and Kim and Hanna and Corey is Awesome as well. They all have their own style of work and they make it pop with colors and shades of gray. I hope they make more and more of these. I couldn't find Season 2 - is it out there? About 9 to 10 months from now, me and my girl is planing to go out to L.A. and check out the store and get a Tat for both of us. I think Corey is so amazing with his free style work and how he see his vision of art on someone's body and then do his great work.

I think Kat von D is one of the coolest girl in the celebrity world. I respect her for her artistic talent and what she creates.
It is interesting to see someone's thoughts for getting themselves a tattoo and how much it means to them.
I like her style and love her make up.
