I suppose if you have a thin baby they could easily pop up out of the seat a little bit while jumping and hit their head.

There is also a hard plastic monkey that hangs in the back which he also hits his head on.

My wife and I got it as a replacement to a Baby Einstein Jumper that was recalled... never would have imagined that one may be a prime candidate for one as well. Little did we know that the Orange "toy-Lion's Head" could be ripped off! By a 7-Month-Old! That's right: One minute he's bouncing and laughing as usual... the next, he's got the Lion's head in his mouth... !?!?!? Thankfully it was a "clean break" with no pieces or shards he could have swallowed. Worried about sharp edges left by the break, I removed the rest of the "Lion's body".
As an engineer, all parts I have worked on needed to be designed to withstand AT LEAST 3X the force they are supposed to experience / endure. I haven't the slightest clue the force my 7-month-old can inflict... but this Lion was not designed to withstand very much at all. I may post pictures in a later update.
I already sent an email to Fisher Price letting them know of the issue. I can only wonder how they are going to handle this... not sure if we would be comfortable with a "replacement Lion" - as the same can happen again. In the mean time, I feel I must warn others and recommend against this Jumper.

Bought this for my 5 month old and was very easy to set up HOWEVER once placed in the jumperoo the base was VERY unsturdy so every time he went to reach for a toy and would jump a little the whole seat would go "shoot back" and threw him back into the seat like whiplash. Returned the next day in exchange for the baby einstein jumperoo which is so much sturdier and SAFE

We bought this from Babies R Us about four months ago when my younger son was around 5-6 months old. Overall I really like this jumperoo. It's got cute music, a lot of stimulating toys for the baby, but not too overwhelming, and he's gotten some good use out of it. I haven't had any of the problems with it that other parents have complained about with the monkey smacking him or hitting his head on the giraffe/vine bar that goes across this. However, my son has chunky thighs that keep him pretty well secured in the seat. I suppose if you have a thin baby they could easily pop up out of the seat a little bit while jumping and hit their head. Also, the base is pretty wobbly as others have said and I can see it being a stability issue if you have hard flooring, but if you have carpet, it's really not an issue, so that was also not a problem for us.

So why the 3 stars? Here's why:

You CANNOT take ANY of the little attached toy sections out once you have popped them in place, EXCEPT for the little plastic book with the music controls (to replace the batteries). This is an extremely nasty problem if your baby has a tendency to spit up easily. My boy just so happens to be one of those kids who has been pretty erpy since infancy and although at 10 months now he's a lot better than when he was a newborn, he still has his occasional spit ups. Fisher Price made it impossible for this thing to be cleanable - unless you have about 2 hours, A LOT of patience, and want to completely destroy the tabs and tab slots that hold each piece in on the underside of the saucer - and in turn, after several accidents and some full on throw ups, I can clean the surface areas all I want, but any parent can just imagine how lovely all the crevices around the edges of the toy sections have become.

Overall this is a good jumper. It is sturdy and has a lot of activities for baby. Only problem I have is that the monkey that hangs from the top hits my daughter's head. To solve the problem, I fastened the monkey to one of the sides. My daughter loves this jumper!

We love LOVE LOVE this for our 5 month old! And so does he! We bought it a couple of months ago and he was a little small for it but we just put a wooden tray underneath so he could reach and we recently we able to take that away (he is now 25 inches long). We were worried about the reviews but decided to take a chance and we are glad we did! It is very sturdy. You want it to be flexible when your baby is jumping like crazy in it! But there is not too much wobbling or flexing. He's not quite big enough to turn the seat yet but I don't think it will be a problem when he can. Seems pretty smooth. There is also no way his head would hit the bar that goes across the top. When his head can reach that, he well be too big for it. He loves how the sounds react to his jumping and it's been a great toy so far. Oh, and it usually makes him poop! The seat cover is really easy to take off and wash. :)
