Editorial Reviews

L-O-V-E by Cuban superstar Issac Delgado recreates twelve sultry and sexy Spanish recordings originally sung by crooner Nat King Cole. He does so with the help of a number of outstanding musicians including a special contribution by Nat King Cole s brother, Freddy Cole. This is the first time that Freddy Cole has participated in a tribute album to his brother.

Eight of the twelve songs on L-O-V-E can be found on Nat King Cole s three Latin albums and the remaining four are Cole classics that Delgado reinterprets in Spanish by infusing his own personal style and Latin Jazz elements into each one. A charismatic musician often referred to as the Frank Sinatra of salsa, Delgado transforms these 20th century classics into 21st century masterpieces while staying true and authentic to his Cuban roots.

L-O-V-E rediscovers some of the greatest songs ever written in any language and appeals to a wide variety of audiences, crossing over languages, cultures, radio formats and generations. Along with seeding taste-makers who are sure to embrace its modern nostalgia and ultra-clean acoustic sound, there will be extensive lifestyle marketing outreach to retailers, internet outlets, restaurants, salons and spas.

This CD is excellent--never heard Freddy Cole sound better and Issac Delgado is super fantastic, smooth, talented and sexy. The musicians are to die for. John DiMartino on the piano is in his space doing his thing.

This is a wonderful recording of Nat King Cole's recordings sung in Spanish. I heard about it on NPR when "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face" sung by Issac Delgado was played. He sings the songs similarly to Cole's cadences. I rarely buy this type of music, but I had to buy it, if for nothing else than its soft, smoky, sexy allure. Delgado's "take" on the songs and Cole, to my ears, is perfect.

It's been a long time since I've come face to face with slow jazz. The long winter, low sunlight, bad economy, solitude, you name it, all makes for running away from anything close to the blues. I bought this cd without reading the reviews about Spanish covers of old Nat King Coles works (much love to the man and his music). I was expecting a pumped up Salsa delivery from the aforementioned depressing winter blues. I thought L.O.V.E was a follow-up to Isaac Delgado's previous Salsa cd.

I don't regret having purchased this. It's a beautiful cd, which I first found to be sad, except for the last song, which totally cheers me up: 12. No Tengo Lagrimas (Nao Tenho Lagrimas). Mr. Freddy Cole is working the sexy 'Grinch Who Stole Christmas' narrator voice overtime:)I took a long walk through my neighborhood lined with magnificent wise old trees and limbered up to the slow songs of unrequitted love. I let each sad song play and personally torture me, because Isaacs voice is so sweet, and the music so beautiful, it's like getting a giant needle shot from a doctor and a lollipop afterwards:)

To love is to live.

I became aware of this CD by watching a YouTube video of the song "Quizas, Quizas, Quizas" (of which I had last heard in the film, Tortilla Soup). Issac sings it in Spanish, and then Freddy Cole gives an English rendition. The video was quite entertaining, yet the music CD is even better, featuring many songs in Spanish that were part of Nat Ling Cole's repertoire, (thus the title "L-O-V-E").

This album represents a very nice mix of jazz standards, Latin, and Cuban (Salsa) numbers that are all very tastefully performed. Though I purchased this through amazon mp3 downloads, I am considering also buying the physical CD to see if there are Spanish lyrics with English translations, too.

Another favorite of mine from the album is "No Tengo Lagrimas (Nao Tenho Lagrimas)" and is very uplifting. I recommend this CD to any Latin jazz/Salsa/Cuban afficionado. I find myself listening to this recording every day!

I heard this CD on the local NPR radio. Most of the songs of this CD are old spanish latin songs that were covered by Nat King Cole in one of the three albums that he made in spanish. His brother appears on a couple of songs and sounds quite like what Nat sounded like. Anyways, new arrangements were made to the songs. They come out sounding beautifully melodic, great rhythm, some of them can even be considered hypnotic. For Christmas I gave away half a dozen copies.Only praise and thanks for this gift of well made music. The recording in itself is also very good, clear ambience, instruments are well defined, the voice distinguishes itself from the instruments,it does not need to compete with the rest.To me there are no complaints it is highly recommended.I would like more of this.

I, LOVE this CD so much. I have always been a big fan of Nat King Cole and his music and also of Issac Delgado. This CD is one of my favorites. The 12 tracks song selections are a delight and the musical execution by all involved is excellent. I was surprised by how true they remained to the essence of Nat King Cole's music. Don't expect any "salsa" or "timba" arrangements on this CD. The executive producers of this recording were Fernando Trueba and Nat Chediak and also Issac Delgado, so you know it is quality all around, guaranteed. If you get a chance, watch the YouTube video of the song "Quizas,quizas,quizas."(Perhaps,perhaps,perhaps). It is excellent, probably filmed by Fernando Trueba (at least it looked like it). L.O.V.E. this CD!
