Book Description

L.O.S.T. Series November 8, 2004
Seventeen-year-old Brenden is happily on his way to San Diego for a short summer vacation. Stopping to use the restroom in a small town changes his life forever when everything familiar disappears and he finds himself in L.O.S.T.-one of many witch villages from different times (ranging from medieval to modern) magically disconnected from the rest of the world.

The golden-eyed teenage girl responsible for taking Brenden to this land of witches, hags, and sirens is Jazz, Queen of the Witches. She recognizes an inner power in Brenden that could save her people. Throughout their adventures, Jazz and Brenden share an irresistible attraction, yet they must devote their strength to defeating Nire, an ancient evil threatening both of their worlds.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

Grade 8 Up - L.O.S.T. stands for Live Oak Springs Township, which is where Bren gets lost and finds Jasmina, Queen of the Witches. She kidnaps him, hoping that he is the "Shadowalker," the hero prophesied to save the witches from the Nire, a shadow beast dedicated to killing them all. Bren is understandably upset when he is snatched from his world; Jazz, 16, is stressed because she has been ruling the witches and fighting the Nire for four years and is losing ground to the dark evil one. She's also worried that Bren might not be the "chosen one." On top of everything, Bren and Jazz are falling in love and fighting the attraction (and one another) almost constantly. A twist at the end keeps readers guessing about the identity of the evil Nire. The conclusion is satisfying but left open to the possibility of future volumes. The story and the characters are a little pat but nonetheless interesting. Some foreshadowing is rather transparent but the characters have a little depth and the plot twists keep the story moving. This is a quick read with some fantasy, a bit of romance, and a little tragedy. - Saleena L. Davidson, South Brunswick Public Library, Monmouth Junction, NJ

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow, hell of a book!, June 15, 2005
This review is from: L.O.S.T. (L.O.S.T. Series) (Paperback)
"L.O.S.T.", a book by Debbie Federici and Susan Vaught, is a hell of a book. It's excellent. It's about a boy named Bren who enters Live Oak Springs Township (hence the name). Just fate that he stopped there to use the bathroom and met the girl who would take him in an adventure. Jasmina, Queen of the Witches is destined to a find a warrior known as the, "Shadowalker". The prophecies foretold that the Shadowalker will defeat an ancient evil known as Nyre, no one knows who or what it is, well trained and filled with love for the Queen. The story is a suspense with paranormal/fantasy elements. It's well written and totally addictive. I had to READ this book, now!. I couldn't tell which way, and finding out whose Nyre was is difficult and surprising that I didn't even knew who it was. But cannot tell you, you have to get it. L.O.S.T. is a very good, 5 at of 5 in my opinion for having adventure and suspenseful with a twisted surprise.

I enjoyed being carried away to such a magical existance. I am anxiously looking forward to a series of books by these two gifted authors. It would make a darn good movie or tv series. Hollywood wake up. These two ladies are right on target.

5.0 out of 5 stars L.O.S.T : A Good Read!, January 18, 2005
This review is from: L.O.S.T. (L.O.S.T. Series) (Paperback)
Seventeen-year-old Brenden is on his own for the first time, on his way to visit a friend in San Diego. When he suddenly gets the urge to use the restroom, he stops at the first place he can find: Live Oak Springs Township (L.O.S.T.). Here, he meets Jasmina, the Queen of the Witches who tells him of a destiny he's not sure he wants to fulfill: He is the Shadowalker, the only one who can stop the Shadowmaster's evil plans.

L.O.S.T. is a great tale of two teenagers. One, a girl willing to do whatever it takes to protect her people. The other, a boy thrust into a world he doesn't understand and forced to make a decision: Will he accept that he is the Shadowalker and fulfill his destiny? Or will he run the first chance he gets back to the world he understands?

Full of mystery, magic, and a little romance, L.O.S.T. is a classic tale of the battle between good and evil with plenty of action and surprises guaranteed to keep your attention.
