5.0 out of 5 stars THE style, May 12, 2003
By
This review is from: L.A. STYLE (Audio CD)
This is the pinnacle of Techno/rave. My senior year when this albumn came out, i was the only person in my school who even knew what techno was. This was a period when 2unlimited's "get ready for this" and c&c music factory was the mainstream's idea of techno. all that was pure garbage compared to the raw sounds produced by LA style. Even compared to the regurgitated ... that comes out of the music industry these days, this albumn is like stealing a halo and putting it in your cd player! If you don't own this cd, do yourself a favor and educate yourself in the fine art of music history.

4.0 out of 5 stars Opened The Door, May 23, 2005
This review is from: L.A. STYLE (Audio CD)
I bought this on cassette on my prom night in 92',and I STILL have this cassette.Anyone can say what they want, yeah some songs are lame. But a majority of this album is great.Next to Lords of Acid(which I also purchased the very night)These guys kicked major ass. It's too bad they never produced anyhing else after this one.The "Prom-Limo",was rollin'!!!I'm an old school
club head & retired DJ,so I've played and heard my share of this band."Balloony",is one of their greatest songs.I'm pretty sure the REAL Ravers know what they are talking about.I think I'm rabbling...but this is my take on this album.I love it because it holds so many memories for me.What's weird is my date
(who is now my Wife still jams to this when I play it)Classic.
Stuck in the Late 80's-Early 90's? Here's a list of old school stuff you should check out.
Eon-The Spice
Praga Khan-Injected with a poison
Front 242-Tyranny for you.."The Whole Album"
I.S.H.-I.S.H.
Channel X-A Million Colors
Two Little Boys-ANYTHING FROM THEM
Hell you could probably find these in a "Best Of Compilation"
Damn I'm getting old!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of THE classic techno/rave records of the 1990s....., May 16, 2004

L.A. Style weren't well known in the US. Their only "hit" was JAMES BROWN IS DEAD, and most people heard that on one of the compilations they bought. I first heard L.A. Style in 1996 on the RAVE TIL DAWN compilation, and then a friend made me a mix tape and included some other songs from them. Other songs??!?!? They had an album? I HAD to find it. Of course, this was it....and it is a CLASSIC! The music is a mix of pop/dance with a heavy hand in bass beats and electronical rhythms. The singers are really good at making you want to get up with your glowstick and rave the night away! Even though this album is now out of print, if you can get a used copy, go ahead and pay to have it! It's a must for any serious dance/techno/rave collector.
