A "spine tingler" for sure - I couldn't put it down! This author is extremely talented. His books are very diversified in their subject matter and yet each one is flawlessly executed in its particular genre. Hope to be seeing more of his works in the very near future.

L. A. Stalker,

This review is from: L. A. Stalker (Hardcover)
As I started to read, "L.A. Stalker", I was overwhelmed with the thought of redemption. Finally, a story where the bad guy gets his due. However, as I continued reading, the pleasure associated with a ritual payback, and all that, that entails, was taken for a ride. From the beginning, I was obsessed with the tale and how it would end. I expected the usual, all is okay story, but was pleasantly surprised by the unexpected turn of events, as I approached the end. From the moment I opened the cover, I could not put this book down. I felt as though I was in the same room as the participants, many times, and experienced the fear and serenity of the characters. The detail which was described in many, not so pretty situations, was precise and factual. When I finished, I started back at page one, as I was wanting to absorb all of the little clues and innuendoes, that I thought I might have missed on the way to the final chapter. Overall, it is an outstanding, detailistic thriller. Lloyd Steveson Phoenix, Arizona

As an avid watcher of police television dramas, I have come to realize that you can only watch so much before they are all re-runs. Tired of flipping channels to try to find something new, I picked up this close to decade old book that had been on my shelves for years.
It started a little graphic and all over the place but soon the mini-stories fit into place, each one like streams feeding into a major river. Thirty or so pages in, I was hooked and what was graphic details became intimate parts of the story.

To Live and Die in L.A.,

Dora - Imagine yourself as prey for a hideous, unknown beast. Everyone around you - suspect. Just one or two friends to offer you comfort occasionally, but they, too, are being hunted.
Jerry - Imagine being able to reach into the deepest, darkest recesses of twisted, obsessed, fouled minds. Every deviant thought and deed, bleeding into your psyche as you probe further, trying to uncover the key to the hunter's schedule. You're the only one who can work your way into the depraved mind and you're assigned to track down predators you can't identify by sight. The prey isn't trusting you to be her protector. How can you possibly defend her when you don't know who the enemy is? Sounds like the job from Hell, doesn't it? For Jerry Leger, it's all in a day's work. For Pandora Collins, it's her life at stake. L.A. Stalker is compelling and chilling. A true page-turner. David Kilpatrick strikes each chord with resounding clarity in this psychological thriller. Beyond some sort of CSI: Hollywood, his look into the world of celebrity stalkers and those hired to protect the glitterati, is spellbinding. Far more than a novel dedicated to the dangers of stardom, he takes you into the minds of the mad, the scarred, and the brutalized. Start this book early in the morning and don't stop reading until you're done! Let's just hope you can finish before the shadows set in...

Stalked to the Last Page,
This review is from: L. A. Stalker (Paperback)
Pandora Collins, one of Hollywood's most famous movie stars, has a stalker. To eliminate the threat, she hires a hitman to pop the guy. Quickly, all goes awry as the hitman delves into plans of his own, betrays Pandora, and slips away without a trace every time he strikes. Add a romantic subplot between Pandora and Jerry Leger, the detective assigned to her case, and you've got yourself a compelling read.
Kilpatrick has succeeded where only the best authors do: he tells the story to you straight and not once are you thinking "Hey, wait a sec. What happened here?" and you're forced to reread the last paragraph or two or, sometimes, even chapters. But the most important aspect of his storytelling is his ability to make you believe he knows what he's talking about and that every word you read is truth. I'm a huge fan of the small press and of self-published titles. I've said it many times, but these "lesser known" books are far more engaging and far more authentic than so much of what comes out from large publishing houses these days. Kilpatrick has written one heck of a novel and the fact he went independent with it instead of selling out to some big name publisher (which he could easily have done), speaks of his desire to keep things simple and give you, the reader, a superb tale, an engrossing story, and an honest-to-God page-turner. Being an author myself, it's easy for me to pick apart someone's work (I'm not saying I'm perfect, but after writing a few books, you develop an eye for "near-perfection"), and with Kilpatrick's novel, that is extraordinarily difficult to do. This story is one worth reading several times over and one that gives you a sense of comprehension of how those who have been hurt in the past grow into the adults they become, whether for good or ill.
