Makes a dramatic difference, December 1, 2004

I never suspected just how much a well designed beater can contribute to bass drum pedal performance. I added a pair of these to my DP402 double bass pedal (ASIN B0002D0BRM) and simply could not believe the added speed and control I attained.
In fact, after hours of adjusting and tweaking the pedal I thought I had it perfect. Adding these beaters pushed the performance envelop so much that I next tried one of my beaters on a roughly adjusted Groove Percussion DP200 pedal (ASIN B0002X0802). Same amazing transformation. This beater (or a pair if you are using double pedals) is worth every penny.
Bear in mind that this beater is designed for jazz - if you are playing rock or music that demands heavier bass, Slug Percussion makes beaters especially for those types. I've only used the jazz model, but if the same holds true for the other models you will dramatically improve your bass pedal performance with this beater.
