BEWARE! I purchased this tv in feb of this year and it has already went out. Screen has no picture at all! Worst part about it is trying to send it in for repair. I called tcl on a monday and was informed I would receive a return box so I could send tv but by Friday, no box. I called Friday and they told me it was scheduled to ship. So Monday comes and no box. I call and am informed that order was entered wrong and was cancelled. Weird since everything was set fri. So now I will receive a box end of week, almost 2 weeks after initial call. Then still has to be repaired and sent back. Worst warranty process ever and even worse that it went out in 5 months!

Bought it for my retired dad. Great value for the price. Only regret is that Directv remote setup has no code for this brand, so we couldn't pair it with the Directv remote.

Seriously... I don't know who is to blame, Amazon, TCL, or UPS but I ordered this TV, it arrived all beat up and the screen was cracked. Returned it. Amazon tried to ship the replacement UPS ground (I have prime) instead of 2-day, so I had to fight with them about that -- then #2 arrived and won't power on. 100% DOA. Lesson learned. Buy TV's locally and get them to price match Amazon.

The company will not respond to numerous emails and the phone number rings then goes busy.

The setup settings will not stay in memory after setting/changing them. The tv does retain settings made nearly a year ago but will not rewrite them. I can change them but only until the tv is turned off.
I have tried factory reset- unplug for 5 minutes then plug back in. It will not wipe old data and reset.

There is a year left on warranty- purchased from Amazon Dec 21, 2011 and I have been trying to contact them for six weeks. Nothing from them.

HDMI all 3 don't work after 8 months of use. Otherwise worked well so far. But since I use it as a computer monitor it is huge deal to me. I'll post how the warranty goes. I see the price dropped 20% since last week so if you are thinking of getting it. I would recommend pay 50-100 more for a brand name and don't deal with this BC bad quality controls. If they fix if fast and easy I'll give them 3 stars but for now 1 best i can do

Saw this for 399, then 349, then 319. Finally clicked it at 299 and it is good but when the screen is dark there are four large clouds in each corner. Allmost returned it and still thinking but during 80% of the viewing it looks great. On a dark scene though you really see the lower quality of this set. Bought a 37inch Vizio for my son and it looks much better on dark scenes but cost me 560. The base and frame look great just wish the clouding wasn't so bad.
If anyone knows a way to get ride of the clouding please let me know. And I'd also like to know if this is the norm for this LCD.

*****Received the replacement and its about 50-60% better. The backlight bleed is much better than the first one. There is a little backlight bleed still visable but it is so much better and I feel I can live with this one. So if you get one with excessive backlight bleeding return it for another, hopefully you will end with one that is much easier to live with. Thanks for all the comments and help with this**** Changed my 3 stars to 4! Most thanks to Amazon and the members.

For this price ($299), we are pretty happy. We haven't subscribed to HD programs yet so we cannot say anything about HD quality.
No dead pixel, solid build. Sound loud enough and we didn't have any problem with the remote.

For Comcast remote with RED "OK" button, the RCA code 10047 worked like a charm!

They did not honor their warranty had this TV for under six months. Called and they said they would get right on it to get it fixed. A month passed and nothing I called them and they told me to send them a picture. They returned in a email that my screen was broke and warranty is nullified. Just off a picture they could tell so a month without TV and it was the olympic alsoTCL L40FHDP60 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV with 2 Year Limited Warranty (Black) they are cheap tv and they wont help you at all

I bought this TV in Nov of 2011. In 6 months it failed. It took more than 2 months to get them to take the TV in for repairs. So, they have had my TV since early August......it's now almost Thanksgiving. They tell me that they don't know when the new parts are coming in......THAT'S IT.....CRICKETS.....IT HAS A 2-YEAR WARRANTY!!! NOTHING!! Amazon has refused to help, btw......usually they are very good, but not with this.

I realize that people exaggerate on the internet. This is no exaggeration. These people are shysters. Do not believe them about the warranty. I'm going to start a website warning people about TCL. DO NOT BUY TCL!!

UPDATE: After Thanksgiving (they had my TV for almost 5 months!!), they sent me a replacement......refurbished, I suppose......WAS NOT NEW. Anyway, it was ok FOR about one month. THE REPLACEMENT TV HAS A LARGE WHITE LINE DOWN THE MIDDLE NOW!!!!! Are you kidding me? I seriously want to give up. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

Ok, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take my advise, and DO NOT buy a tcl t.v.! By far the worst experience i have ever had with a service company! the first t.v. i got was in a real company box.(properly packaged with Styrofoam and bubble-wrap.) after about 8 months the screen displayed a star stemming from a group of failed pixels. Ok so time to test the warranty. part of the reason for taking a chance on a unheard of cheap t.v. right? First off, all the 1 star reviews are dead on. If you can get someone on the phone, they can not seem to tell you anything but send it in, and wait and see. They already know what your about to find out. you will not be getting helped. I Emailed them pictures of the problem and luckily I had saved my original box, so that saved me the 50 bucks they were gonna charge me for a new one to return ship in. So they Emailed me a return slip and I send in the t.v. A week later I get an unmarked box, with "fragile t.v. inside" on the outside. Open the box and, no corners, no bubble-wrap. just a t.v. wrapped in plastic (Like Laura Palmer!) and dumped in a box. Needless to say, the side of the t.v.s case is cracked. Now I'm a single guy who's already been through t.v. service dept. crap before, I'm thinking if the screen looks good, were cool. I turn it on and about a 3 inch panel of the t.v. is reversed. weirdest problem I've ever seen! my brothers epileptic and couldn't look at it for fear of having a seizure. Impossible to watch! More pictures sent of this problem. "Send it in, wait and see." At first I thought the damage to the case was done in shipping, now my guess is that the service dept. had already "fixed" this t.v. as the bottom of the t.v.s face had a grey strip (on a black t.v.) and i think they tried to replace the whole facade and broke it trying, then just shipped it to me. Now the service dept. is telling me the case is broken and it looks weird. I took pictures when i opened the box, so i sent those pictures to them and I'm waiting for my next disappointment. I am still waiting to see what the reply will be, but I have given up on getting anything from these people. I threw away 300 dollars on this t.v. Please don't give tcl any of your money! I will be reporting this to the B.B.B. if that even matters to these people, my guess is not. They can always screw you over, As consumers, the only power we have, is the choice of where to spend our hard earned money. Stories Point? Pay a little more, get a Sony! DO NOT BUY A TCL!!!!
