I have tried various fluxes, with mixed results. When I applied this flux to stainless steel that I was soldering it worked very well, and very little of the product needed to be used to function. There's not much to go on about, but it seems to me that so few things work as advertised that it is worth emphasizing that this really works well.

This flux can not be used on any item that will carry water for human consumption. This was not listed in the description but has a large warning labe on the back of the bottle. Also this item is not able to be returned due to its shipping hazards as a chemical. Very disappointed. The description needs to be updated.

I'm impressed. All my previous attempts to solder copper wires onto stainless steel electrodes had failed miserably. This stuff works like magic and totally changes the equation. Add one drop, apply heat, as soon as it starts to boil, apply solder. The solder (I'm using standard SnPb electrical solder) instantly wets to the stainless steel (I'm using 316 alloy) and makes a nice bond onto whatever stainless section that was covered in the flux droplet.

Just make sure not to overheat the work piece before wetting the solder to the stainless steel. If you aren't careful the stuff does go from boiling to charred very quickly, losing all of its fluxing properties (if this happens, no big deal, just clean things up and try again).

From my previous failed attempts using standard flux and/or trying to sand the surface first, I thought soldering stainless steel was just always going to be a difficult process. I got some of the this dripped onto my parts and made some of the best solder joints I've ever made- seemed to stick easier then it does to copper PCB pads.

Definite must have if you're trying to solder tricky metals.
