Save Yourself Hours,

This tool is one of the best things I have seen in a long time. I like to do my own electrical and home theatre work. I hate to fish wire wires through the wall. This toll is fantastic for that. You just drop the chain in from the top and grab it with the flexible magnet at the bottom. If you are pulling something heavy all you have to do is use the chain to pull in a pull string. As cheap as this is it could save you hours! Highly recommended for its simplicity and practicality.

Absolute must have. Still need second person to be up in the attic dropping the chain down the wall, but if you don't have this magnetic 'gumby' rod & steel chain, you'll be hating life! Great buy!

I needed to run an additional coaxial cable for OTA from my kitchen to the basement. I already had one coax at this location but passing the 2nd one from the top hole in the kitchen to the bottom hole in the basement (or vice versa) was not as easy as I had hoped...just couldn't access both ends of the cable so I decided to order the Wet Noodle & Retriever for $20...this turned out to be an excellent decision!
I placed the ball-chain into the hole in the wall behind the TV in the kitchen, went down to the basement, inserted the retriever in the hole and wiggled it around a bit but then decided to take it back out to reshape it and low and behold, it already had the chain attached to it! This literally took me about 3 minutes, I couldn't believe it! If I seem a little excited it's because I just did this last night and I still can't believe how well it worked! I then attached a string to the chain in the basement, went back upstairs and pulled the chain out with the string attached, then went back downstairs and taped the coaxial cable to the string...then back upstairs one more time and pulled the string with the cable in tow....done! Best $20 I've spent in a long time! I know some of you might be saying that since I already had a cable passing from top to bottom I could have used the cable itself as a puller for another cable but I did not want to take the chance of losing that cable (which feeds my DirecTV DVR) in the wall...that would have just compounded my problem.

I've used this product several times and it's great. I am a cable tv installer and it good for doing wall fishing cable and telephone lines. It down side is the ball chain is not very tough as they say and if you yank on it too hard the chain will break. It gets stuck in wall with pipes and cant do insulated walls. However if you got a hollow wall this guy can save you lots of time getting your wire out the wall.

I have successfully used this tool to fish security cable through several walls. It works great for uninsulated walls. Note that if the wall is insulated you will need to push a hole through the insulation first using a drill bit or fish stick (in which case it might be easier just to use the fish stick).

I had to do a few runs of Cat6 through my attic into 3 rooms in my home. This really helped a lot. Sure you could make your own or use a different kind of device (originally I used a wire hanger), but this did the job better. I was up in the attic and my wife was at the receiving end using the magnet to attach the nickel-plated steel ball chain. You might have issues if the wall you're working on is insulated or if you have horizontal studs/fire-stops. It was perfect for what I needed.

everything workings great with this item. It makes fishing wire through the wall way easy. The noodle is nice and stiff and you can bend it easy any which way.
