5.0 out of 5 stars Simply a MUST for data networking professionals!, October 6, 2000
By
Malcolm Myler (San Antonio, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: LAN Wiring (Paperback)
My work revolves around designing and building data, voice and video network distribution systems. LAN Wiring is a fantastic resource for building copper, fiber, and even wireless data infrastructures!

Not only will LAN Wiring help you today, it offers terrific advice and guidance for including upgrade paths for future growth. Trulove thoroughly covers technology that is currently available, as well as what is anticipated down the road.

One thing I truly appreciate about this book is the detailed information on industry standards supported by diagrams and illustrations. I was especially pleased at the coverage for wireless LAN's, an area I have been greatly involved in lately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive, and an excellent value, October 24, 2000

One thing that some "certified professionals" lack these days is an understanding of cabling... they call that wire a backbone for a reason, you know. With plenty of illustrations and a wealth of practical knowledge, this book is an asset to any sysadmin's library, providing the information that you REALLY need to know when crawling through an overhead duct with a flashlight in your teeth.

1.0 out of 5 stars OK if you're an electrical engineer, October 28, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LAN Wiring (Kindle Edition)
This is an EXTREMELY technical book/manual. I'm a homeowner wiring my home with Cat6 cable, putting in a patch panel, switch etc and thought this would be a practical book on how to wire your home for Ethernet....wrong. This is a technical manual for electrical engineers. I ended up returning it. For someone who needs a technical book on LAN wiring this might be a 5 star item but I suspect for most people this won't be very useful.
