If I was given a choice of any other mascara for free I wouldn't take it. If I was forced to choose just one item of make-up (God forbid!) I would take this mascara. I experiment with other beauty products but am totally loyal to Defincils. It goes on perfectly from root to tip, separates and makes lashes look long, long, long. It doesn't clump or flake. The name is appropriate because it really does define and that gives the eyes a beautiful open appearance. Lancome is known for making the best mascara and the reputation is well deserved. And if you really want dramatically flutterable lashes try putting on Lancomes base coat which makes lashes fuller too and lengthens. Since I have given other products five stars I wish I could give this six. It's THE best thing in my make-up arsenal.

I am extremely picky about my makeup; I am not a "heavy user" and demand perfection from the few products I use. I discovered Lancome Definicils when I was a teenager, and knew from the very first swish of the wand on my lashes that I had found a remarkably good product.

Since that time, I have mistakenly tried other brands on the advice of someone claiming that a certain drugstore brand is the exact same, only cheaper. WRONG! Where even the "best" and/or most celebrated drugstore brands have caused problems (clumping, smearing, etc.), I have never, ever had a problem with Lancome Definicils.

From the first time I tried it as a teen, to 20 years later, every flick of the wand from first to last has been absolute perfection. It is worth every penny...

Bottom Line: it's the Holy Grail of Mascaras!

I have been using mascara since I was a teenager and this is absolutely the best ever. Ocassionally I have read reviews about other 'fantastic' mascaras and strayed and tried them, only to be disappointed. Now I wouldn't even bother trying anything else even when given in free gift packs. I have very long fair eyelashes and use black. The brush is easy to guide and you do not end up with big thick, clumpy patches especially when the mascara is new. It parts and separates the lashes perfectly. For night I apply 2 coats for a more dramatic look. It never smudges and is easy to remove (I use Clinique 'naturally gentle eye make-up remover'). And yes, it may be a little expensive but it lasts for ages (doesn't dry out like other mascaras)and the quality of the product surpasses anything else. Also my eyes tend to be a little sensitive and I have never had any problems even when accidentally getting the mascara in my eye. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

I first got this as a sample with my other purchases, enabling me to give it a good try.
It became a favorite. I have no problems with it even though the area around my eyes is prone to allergic reactions!
This mascara stays on until you remove it and feels comfortable,looks beautiful.
Highly recommended.

This mascara is great. I've tried many and this is the only one that doesn't smudge all over the place. The only drawback is the price. It's triple what drugstore brands cost.

I have been using this mascara for years. While I agree that it's not without flaw- it's still the best thing that I can find. I've tried to spend less money and buy other mascaras (Avon, L'Oreal, Maybelline) and even to spend more money and buy another mascara (Diorshow, Benefit Badgal) in the constant search of the "perfect mascara" but I always come back... In a nutshell- Pros- lengthens lashes, easy to use brush (unlike Diorshow), usually doesn't clump or smear. Cons- tends to "flake" a little bit if you make the mistake of rubbing your eyes (which I probably shouldn't do anyhow if I am wearing eyemakeup!) It's the best thing I've found and believe me, I've looked!

This is the best mascara out there. You cannot recreate it. L'Oreal does not have it. This is it!

Sorry to Lancome, I bought the curved brush version of this & returned it for the straight b/c the curved clumped...but the straight did as well...I was very disappointed & can't believe this is the best selling mascara in the world...I recommend Bobbi Brown's Everything or Everyday or whatever it's called mascara, it is awesome!
