I thought the book did a good job explaining the LASIK surgery in laymen terms. It has helpful charts, tables and pictures.

Review Of Book,

I found this to be very informative, both on the procedure as well as the doctors. I especially appreciated chapter 5, how to choose a surgeon. There are many surgeons out there who make huge promises - how does one choose?

LASIK Vision Correction by Robert K. Maloney, M.D.,
By A Customer
This review is from: LASIK Vision Correction (Paperback)
Being very nearsighted and hearing all the hype and ads about LASIK I decided to do an indepth investigation on the surgeons and the procedure. This book is extremely informative! I found it very comprehensive in detail about the surgery. I went for consultations at three different Laser Vision places and by far Dr. Maloney and his staff are the most profession, and skilled in this surgery. I had the surgery and see 20/20. I recommend this book and Dr. Maloney to everyone looking for this surgery. I traveled 5000 miles to have the surgery performed and it was well worth it!

Dr. Maloney didn't write it?,

Why the deception? Why would a doctor of Robert Maloney's supposed stature deceive his patients and prospective patients into thinking he's the author of this book?
Anyway, the book warns about thinks like big pupils, but I've read on newsgroups that Robert Maloney even testfied that pupil size is not as important as it once was. I know enought about lasik to know that if the area lasered isn't at least as big as your pupils, you are begging for problems with night vision. Every other doctor I've consulted with told me that they think pupil size is exceptioanlly important and would not do surgery on a patient with huge pupils because its malpractice. Therefore, knowing all of this I don't trust the rest of this book at all. Its quite a shame, because the book looks pretty darn good from the outside.

Great Information for anyone considering Lasik,
By David Krier (Calabasas, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: LASIK Vision Correction (Paperback)
I would describe this book as valuable and very objective. The idea of anyone cutting into your eyes is a pretty scary thought. This book helped me understand the process and my options. It made the thought of eye surgery less intimidating. Personally, I believe it's must read material and far superior to the tri-fold brochures you get at the typical Doctor's office. I really appreciated the section on what to look for in a Surgeon, much of it is common sense, but as a layman, you need to know the questions to ask. It looks to me like everything Dr. Maloney and Dr. Davidorf have written is right on the mark.

BEWARE! The "authors" DID NOT actually write this one!,

The credited authorship of this publication can belong to any physician who pays a price! After making some inquiries of other laser centers, I learned that MedWorld Publishing makes the following offer via fax to many physicians performing LASIK:"Become the author of your own book in just one month! Personalize the book with your own title and cover, with you listed as author and your bio on the back cover for a nominal fee." The information in this book may be factual, but it's source seems to me to be dubious at best. It disturbs me that any physician would stoop to this seemingly dishonest level of self-promotion. It strikes me as being equal to buying a pre-written term paper. I regret I'm even forced on this site to give this sham publication even one star.

THANK YOU DR MALONEY FOR YOUR BOOK,
By Katie Rosen (Santa Monica, CA , United States) - See all my reviews

A friend who had the LASIK surgery with Dr Maloney told me to order this book. Not only did I read this book...Dr Maloney performed my LASIK surgery a few weeks later. He is an excellent surgeon. I took my book with me to my first appointment and Dr Maloney ACTUALLY took the time to explain specific written information and diagrams directly from his book. The best is Chapter 5...if you are thinking of having LASIK, order this book and you will SEE what I am talking about.
