4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent analysis of how football has changed, and how it has changed us, July 10, 2009

This review is from: THE LAST GAME: LOVE, DEATH AND FOOTBALL (Hardcover)
As a hardcore Arsenal supporter, Cowley's The Last Game whet my appetite for discovering new Arsenal trivia, but it did far more: in it I felt the roar of the crowd, the passion for the beautiful game, and a sense of just how much football has changed me, and the wider society. From Cowley's delving into shifting views on racism in England, and how football has impacted them, to the more narrow look at how England's football has become gradually more Continental, it's a great read, whether you're a football fanatic or not.
