Soul Ballet is one of my fave smooth jazz artists and I have all of their previous CDs. This CD is much better than Dream Beat Dream, especially because they have done away with many of the annoying voice/singing tracks from their previous release. The songs sound synthesized (if that is the right music term), and are not acoustic or anything like that. The tunes are more `high energy' than other smooth jazz offerings. There is an introductory snippet (about 30 seconds) that starts the CD (Glitters is Gold), and it definitely should have been longer. In any case, if you are a fan you'll be pleased with this CD and its similarity to some of the others they have already released in previous years.

It's rare that a album can flow as well as this one. I just heard "Soul Ballet" on our local jazz station for a brief momment. The track was "da da Diamonds". I was so impressed at the flow of the song. Almost puts you into a trance. I went to Amazon right away to see if it was availible for purchase. I downloaded the album right away and I have been listening to it ever since. It rare that an artist can put together a full album of tracks that you can listen to all the way through. Kudos to "Soul Ballet" for this one. "A REALLY COOL FLOW!!!"

Like the subtle, flirty motion from an inviting lover, Soul Ballet's LAViSH is irresistible. A combination of sensual downtempo electronica, chilled grooves and Smooth Jazz, the Soul Ballet recipe has been intoxicating music enthusiasts for years. It is the creative musical outlet of actor/producer/arranger/programmer and multi-instrumentalist Rick "R.K." Kelly. There's no mistaking a blending of arts here... the music is sweeping and cinematic, lending itself to soundtracking a personal weekend of intimacy or a late night drive along the coast. Rick Kelly has his finger on the pulse of cool with Soul Ballet and LAViSH is proof that a concoction of hip, loungey music and Smooth Jazz is a crowd pleaser that crosses demographics. Lavish means to give generously or in excess... Soul Ballet's LAViSH certainly matches the definition with generous donations of soulful melody and gratifying groove and as always, Rick Kelly exceeds expectation with his alluring new masterpiece. You may be familiar with the other craft of R.K. If you're a fan of TV's C.S.I. Miami, Cold Case, Nip / Tuck... you've possibly seen the handsome actor in various roles. We're big fans of the Soul Ballet brand here at [...] / [...]. In fact, we're addicted. Every track is spectacular. Not to suggest that LAViSH is a tonic, but I am confident that you'll feel more alive upon listening... and it's great to feel alive. So go ahead, lavish it on!

An excellent CD by Soul Ballet! The intro track and preceding track, glitters is gold & in the VIP, are my favorite! This CD shows Soul Ballets ability to mature, evolve and polish their music! My favorite CD by them is still All The Pretty Lights!
Lavish is quite enjoyable to listen to! If you have a better then average sound system, there's lots of detail in this CD. Well worth adding to your collection!!!

I first heard Soul Ballet in 1999 with Blu Girl and Her Joyride. In those days there were no music downloads so I had to special order Trip the Night Fantastic from the US to Canada. Soul Ballet/Rick Kelly has never let me down. He has a sound that I can't get enough of. I just bought LAVISH online and have been listening to it all week. SMOOTH VEGAS is my favourite cut - it MUST be played full blast! Rick is one of those musicians who can never write enough music for me. Thank heavens for downloads! I just wish Rick had a myspace page or something, so I could tell him how much his music means to me. I hope you will read this one day, Rick! Thank you! PS: I just read my very first Amazon.com review - it was for Trip the Night Fantastic! I didn't even realize I had posted that - and this just reiterates what I said then! Rick Kelly - you are unbelievable!

This CD by Soul Ballet that I purchased here at Amazon.com was in new & unused condition. I have not had any problems with Amazon.com for purchases or returns.

I have 3 other albums by Soul Ballet, but I'd have to say this one is definitely the best yet. I didn't care much for the voices in "Dream Beat Dream" but on this one, the voices actually add to some of the songs. Of the 11 songs on the album, there is only one that I usually skip and that's "da da Diamonds." That's excellent when you enjoy 10 of 11 songs on an album. And the more I listen to it, the more I keep switching my favorite songs. At first it was "Smooth Vegas" then "Tuscan Chica," but now it's "Every Time You're Near" which has voices in the background that add to the song.
As for the sound, it's hard to describe. Maybe "Cool Smooth Jazz." Rick Kelly manages to produce intoxicating music with a beat and the effect is very relaxing. I highly recommend this album. Love it!

Another great CD from Soul Ballet. All the usual stuff is here: smooth jazz, electronica, dance, even a slight fusion of techno on the side. Highly recommended, despite the 'message' from Mr. Soul Ballet himself inside the cover, which is without doubt one of the most pretentious (and unintentionally hilarious) things I've ever read.

It took a while to understand that LAVISH - in full caps and pink type - was not only the title of this great album, but also the title track. On first hearing this album, one thought dominated my mind: "What is THAT song?" The song Lavish, track 4, is hypnotic. It draws one in like a moth to a flame. The rest of the album is enjoyable and diverse, but LAVISH - the song - demands repeat performances!

The recording quality of this CD is outstanding and 5 stars. One song, "da da Diamonds" is awesome too, which is my reason for purchasing this CD. I have never heard of this band/group before. I heard "da da Diamonds" on XM radio. My first impression upon listening to the entire CD was that the rest of the songs sounded like your standard run of the mill, not that anything was bad but there was nothing that stood out. I always look for something unique in musicianship and I found no connection with these songs at first but as I listened a few times, I found myself enjoying this CD more and more. I find it very nice at this point. This CD makes my stereo system rock too. This recording really pumps out the sound. This edited/updated review will not let me change the star rating but I wish I could. Anyhow I now rate it a 5 easily.
