This text deals with the agronomy of ancient Mesopotamia. It is based on the original, but little known, agronomic encyclopaedia: the "Book of Nabatean Agriculture" by Qutama. The text is divided into three parts and analyzes the origin of the Mesopotamian school of agriculture and its economic and agro-technical conceptions. It also describes the knowledge which was basic to the establishment of the agronomic culture of Islam. It is also possible for historians of agronomy to relate, using this text, the Mesopotamian contribution to the development of the science of agriculture.
