Book Description

10 and up5 and upLbd
At long last, the LBD (Les Bambinos Dangereuses to the uninformed) have finished another awful term at Blackwell School. Finally, Ronnie, Claude, and Fleur are free! If only they had plans for the summer . . . and if only Ronnie’s boyfriend Jimi Steele would get his act together. . . . Just as their bliss fades into the boring summer blues, rock god and the LBD’s friend Spike Saunders sends them free tickets to the Astlebury Music Festival. Brilliant! Soon enough, the LBD are on their way for a weekend of henna tattoos, festival chic, awesome music, and about a million totally lush festival lads. In other words: the natural environment for the LBD! Packed with the same humor and joie de vivre that made LBD: It’s a Girl Thing an international success, LBD: Live & Fabulous! is a sassy, classy romp sure to win the LBD a whole new legion of fans.

Amazon.com Review

Sweetheart Ronnie, vixen Fleur and brainy Claudette, a.k.a. "Les Bambinos Dangereuses" are back on the scene in LBD: Live & Fabulous. In this rollicking sequel, the "feisty, foxy, fighting force" finally makes it to the infamous Astlebury summer music festival, as the special guests of their favorite rock star, Spike Saunders. Unfortunately for the girls, nothing can ever just go as planned. First, they are forced by Fleur’s stern daddy to bring Fleur’s hippy-dippy sister Daphne along as chaperone. Next, they discover their arch nemesis, the evil Panama Goodyear and her "snooty ghoulish gang" have also scored Astlebury tickets. But the final straw comes when Ronnie and Claudette lose their beloved third bambino after Fleur crowd-surfs into a particularly nasty mosh pit and disappears. Will the girls have to call the "totally zingy" festival quits in order to assemble an emergency search squad? Or will the bodacious blonde Fleur come out on top as usual, bringing her marvelous girl gang along? Fans of the LBD are sure to bet on the latter. LBD: Live & Fabulous is teenage escapist reading on a grand scale, where every cool thing you ever wished happened to you and your two best girlfriends, happens. There’s no ground here that British "chick lit" authors Louise Rennison and Jacqueline Wilson haven’t already covered. But it’s mighty entertaining, nevertheless. (Ages 12 and up) --Jennifer Hubert --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From School Library Journal

Grade 7-10–Fleur, Ronnie, and Claude, introduced in LBD: It's a Girl Thing (Putnam, 2003), are a year older and are up for another jamboree. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem as though attending the two-day Astlebury Festival is going to happen, since the tickets are sold out–even on eBay. However, heaps of lucky stars are shining over the Les Bambinos Dangereuses, as Ronnie gets a package in the mail: four shiny tickets to attend the festival, compliments of Spike Saunders, the ragingly hot music star who remembered the LBD from last year. Now, there's just one more obstacle to overcome, and this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is all theirs. Agreeing to abide by and sign the behavioral contract written up by their parents, the three friends are off, escorted by Fleur's responsible (reasonably so) older sister. The festival is not a letdown for the girls, and certainly not for readers. While a bit over-the-top and somewhat predictable (the LBD get to go on stage and play the tambourine with Spike's band), it is still believable since the characters are realistic from the start. Fans of the music scenes in Tanuja Deais Hidier's Born Confused (Scholastic, 2002) and the female camaraderie of Narinder Dhami's Bindi Babes (Delacorte, 2004) will definitely want to join in the drama of this second book. They won't be disappointed.–Kelly Czarnecki, Bloomington Public Library, IL --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fabulous book, April 7, 2005
Ronnie, Claude, and Fleur are back! One year after Blackwell Live, Ronnie is dating Jimi Steele, has a new baby brother, and the LBD have gone through all kinds of fun. Once again, its time for Astlebury Festival. Now that the girls are a year older and wiser, they are sure that their parents will recognize their maturity and let them go this year. However, the parentals still hedge, and conveniantly wait to deny their request until tickets are sold out anyway. Then, a miracle happens: Spike Saunders, who they met last year, sends them 4 tickets! The LBD schemes, and get permission to go, as long as they are accompanied by Fleur's older sister, Daphne. The girls encounter several complications, but get to the festival in one piece. They are having the time of their lives, dancing, meeting boys, and hearing great music. But when Fleur disappears, will the LBD be in the most trouble of their lives...or will they find her and come out on top, with the help of Spike's special passes.....
