1.0 out of 5 stars Don't settle for this
The screen is very reflective. This makes it very difficult to see dark images because you will be staring at your own reflection. I have a window behind my desk and the monitor provides a very nice view of my window blinds but not the image on the screen.

The control buttons are on the side. They are difficult to use. They are a series of small flat square...

I have a number of people who work for me so am able to try out various options in computer equipment. I've tried, used, and compared the HP, Dell, and Samsung comparable models. They all have their positive features (the Dell is the least attractive) but this (the Gateway) is the one I've kept on my desk. The image is gorgeous, the build appears to be really solid, and the features are simple, enough to adjust what most people would care about, and easy to use. Highly recommended. I could not be more pleased and it seems incredibly good for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome LCD for the price., July 8, 2009

This monitor came with my gateway desktop computer. I liked it so much that when I decided to run a dual monitor setup I purchased another one. You really can't beat the price. As many people have mentioned it lacks a little bit when it comes to positioning (you can only tilt back and forward, not swivel), but visually it really preforms very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars "You" tell "me" how good it is., February 9, 2010
This review is from: LCD Display - Tft Active Matrix - 19 Inch - 1440 X 900 - 300 CD/M2 - 600:1 - 5 M (Electronics)
Unfortunately it's Iphone pics, but you should get the picture of how great a monitor this is. The size is perfect for multiple viewing aspect ratios that are fixed and can not be changed (movies for example that don't have a choice on what aspect ratio you want to see it in). As for the rest check the pics (my customer images up top).

It's HD capable, all you have to do is A. hook it up to an HD out that fits the plug in the back and B. press the input botton (right on top of the bunch on the right side) to switch between the two.

And as for "Totoro" don't listen to them, and here is why.

Of course you are going to get a reflection if you have your desk in a such a way a window is directly behind you lol. That's true on just about any kind of screen. I got ceiling light behind me, a window to ether side and TV off to the right and my screen does just fine. In my personal opinion, while searching for my new comp I pick this monitor specifically because I think the "cheap" anti-reflection ones have an excessively soft look to their display. I didn't have the money to buy the one I "really" wanted...

Who cares about where the buttons are??? I would have to say that's done on purpose for a clean look and the fact you don't really need to mess with the thing anyway...

If your looking at the monitor somewhat straight on and level (you know like how most people do it) you don't need tilt, the contrast of the screen it's self has a wide viewing angle.

Don't like how short it is, like 90% off all monitors made on planet earth? Set an old dictionary under it (like I did).

***Menu, Advanced, Resolution Reminder, Enable/Disable, Disable, Menu Off.***
Really???... Unless you had some missing paper work, all of it's "feature" functions are listed in the little use guide card that comes in the box with the warranty and product info. Still, it's not hard to figure out and really, the only thing you need to figure out about this monitor.

As for the size that's up to you and how much money you want to spend...

P.S. About the aspect ratio thingy that pops up when you start a game? Yeah... there is a detailed description of what that is and a direct option "setting" to turn it off. How could you have possibly not seen that Totoro???

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't settle for this, October 20, 2009

The screen is very reflective. This makes it very difficult to see dark images because you will be staring at your own reflection. I have a window behind my desk and the monitor provides a very nice view of my window blinds but not the image on the screen.

The control buttons are on the side. They are difficult to use. They are a series of small flat square buttons, one right above each other. When you press one, the on-screen menu appears, with each option on the screen corresponding to the buttons on the side of the monitor. The on-screen options do not line up, making it difficult to press the correct button.

The monitor cannot be adjusted vertically on its stand. It is very short and will be too low on a desk unless you are a small child or a midget. To raise the monitor to eye level, you will need to find something to put under the base of the monitor.

You can tilt the monitor but not by much.

Any time you use an application (e.g. games) that uses a different resolution than you normally use, a message box appears on the screen notifying you that your resolution has changed, and asking you whether or not you want to keep it. This happens every single time you start or close a game. You can turn this "feature" off, but this option is buried deep within the menu. There is nothing to make you aware of this option; I got lucky by digging around in the menu and finding it.

Generally speaking, a 1440x900 resolution is not much taller than the standard 1024x768 resolution. If you want a larger screen to be more productive, I would invest in one with a higher resolution.
